Secrets of Methamphetamine Manufacture, Third Edition

Secrets of Methamphetamine Manufacture, Third Edition
By Uncle Fester

Publisher: Festering Publications
Number Of Pages: 214
Publication Date: 2005-02-15
ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0970148569
ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780970148568
Binding: Paperback

This classic of clandestine chemistry is back in all its glory in a 7th edition. Virtually every possible way to make meth is covered in detail, with some emphasis given to the popular methods starting with decongestant pills. Hardware store sources of many of the required chemicals are detailed along with low profile methods of obtaining other needed ingredients. I also include an update sheet with the book to keep it up to date in this rapidy changing field.

Summary: "The Secrets of How To Kill Yourself"
Rating: 1

Maybe some day the author of this book will hit rock bottom and find himself ripping out his decaying teeth with a pair of channel locks in the back shed of his trailer and realize how he has completely wasted his life and many of the other lives that this sham of a book has come in contact with.

Summary: Interesting for the curious, but way too advanced for anyone without chemist experience
Rating: 3

I just got the book because I was curious about how it was made (I’m curious about a lot of things that I would never actually make). The new TV series ‘Breaking Bad’ is what piqued my curiosity (a great show, by the way).

Now, just to give you an idea what you’d be getting here if you order this book, let me give you some info on me… I have an IQ of 130, and graduated with a 4.0 from college many years ago (electronics major), and currently work in computer security for a extremely large international company. I aced college-prep chemistry in high school, but did not take any in college.

I could follow enough of this book to satisfy my general curiosity, but there’s no way I could actually make the stuff from reading this book alone (even if I’d wanted). It would definitely take some college level chemistry to follow the book well enough to actually make the stuff without killing yourself. (There are some safety things not mentioned in this book, that are assumed anyone with college chemistry should know… thangs that could literally kill you if you don’t know).

Thus my 3 star averaged rating….
It is ‘great’ if you have a chemistry background… ‘good’ if you are very smart and just curious (but no chemistry background)…. and ‘poor’ if you are a layperson thinking this book will help you cook up something illegal.

Summary: very professional, easy to follow
Rating: 5

If you dont have at least a year of organic chem to your name, or are looking for a quick recipe, dont buy this book. It wont be of any use to you. As for myself, I am a chemistry major and am currently in the midst of my third year of organic chemistry. I find this book easy to follow, all of the procedures in this book that I have preformed worked nicely, and produced product of the highest quality. There are a few unforeseen events that will occur in the labwork, but are easily sidestepped by a good chemist. Most, or all of the lab equipment can be purchased on ebay for very reasonable prices; he also shows you how to manufacture all of your starting materials that would otherwise be almost impossible to purchase. Fester also shows you how to remove from you dope-the pollutants that ruin the finer aspects of methamphetamine. If you dont want to spend months going through the journal of the american chemical society, you should buy this book, which is basically a compilation and expansion of these journals. I highly recommend this book to the experienced dope cook that wants to feel what it’s like to pump out his first 400 gram batch of high quality drugs

Summary: Great info
Rating: 5

This book is full of great info if you want to spend large amounts of time in prison and ruin peoples lives with addictive poison.

Summary: DISAPPOINTED
Rating: 1

I was a bit disappointed with the content of this manual. I thought that it would have given me instructions and recipes in layman terms. These book is designed only chemist, and the trained professional chemist at that.

I work for a drug rehab center in the Virgin Islands and I want my patients to actually see what caustic items go into their systems when they use this stuff

For nearly 20 years now I have been training champions, the champions of the field of clandestine chemistry. This book is their training ground.

I cover virtually every possible method of making that "food of the God’s" - meth along with how to make it from commonplace materials. I also give coverage of the history of this field, so that newcomers can quickly feel like old pros.

Beyond that, I also supply news inserts with the books so that the latest patents don’t leave you in the dust in this rapidly evolving field. This is the place to get up to speed and up to date in this hot area of study.

——————————————————————————–

Summary: Needs more work
Rating: 2

I think the book lacked proper illustrations. In one instance the author refers to a black and white sketch when he says "Making a claisen adapter, as shown in figure 5, is self explanatory". It looks like there is a cork on one end but what material is the rest made of? When working with chemicals, the material your equiptment is made of can be crucial or lifesaving. The author often gets sidetracked with different versions of a recipe. Maybe a different edition would be better?

Summary: Can’t Find Book Read This
Rating: 5

This is a great book that is a little inaccessible to newby chemists, but it’s about as simple as the process can be explained. And if you can’t understand it you’re liable to blow yourself up so I would try something else, theoretically speaking. Since Amazon wont sell this I would direct all interested parties to the Loompanics Unlimited catalog. That’s a great catalog in general, and it sells the most updated edition of this book plus others by the author. It also has several other great books. Cheers.

Summary: Secrets of Methamphetamine Manufacture: Including Recipes for Mda, Ecstasy, and Other Psychedelic Amphetamines
Rating: 3

while the info is really in this book, it is very hard to read an I feel could be written in more of a layman’s term.

Summary: Study hard…
Rating: 5

Finally a resource for the "cooks" out there who know absolutely nothing about what they are doing and end up blowing up their house, or worse yet, their children. "Joe Blow" next door decides he’s gonna make some meth and then the cash will roll in, ignoring the fact that the chemicals he’s bringing into the neighborhood could very well kill. Maybe, just maybe, this book can cut the casualties of production.

Tyler’s Herbs of Choice: The Therapeutic Use of Phytomedicinals, Third Edition (Tylers Herbs of Choice)
By Dennis V.C. Awang

Publisher: CRC
Number Of Pages: 296
Publication Date: 2009-05-04
ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0789028093
ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780789028099

Product Description:

Today’s health care professionals are increasingly confronted with patients who are using herbal supplements to treat various conditions. Providing an authoritative introduction to botanical medicine for these professionals, this book combines the various scientific fields of herbal medicine, phytomedicine, and pharmacognosy with the modern clinical trials that support the rationale for using plant products in health care. This third edition features new information on herb-drug interactions as well as on diabetes, migraine headaches and the common cold, and flu. With updated references, the text presents the latest organic chemical reporting, including nomenclature, and plant taxonomy.

Summary: A "must" for all herbal remedies reference collections.
Rating: 5

Tyler’s Herbs of Choice provides an important treatise on the therapeutic use of phytomedicinals (herbal remedies) and provide important information on the most effective herbs, what they do, how they work. This is not for the casual reader: technical medical descriptions of common conditions and treatments cover details doctors will need to know and provide explanations of how the herbs interact with the body, and what constitutes acceptable levels of dosage.

Summary: An old school viewpoint?
Rating: 3

Written by two pharmacognosists at Perdue University, this book is an update to the original volume in 1994, describing the safe use of the most widely available medicinal herbs. They address recent developments in the use of herbal medicines in a manner that is easy to read and without unnecessary jargon. They include some updated references for most plants, encompassing the clinical literature, known chemical constituents, and the history of their use. Introductory essays describe the basic principles of herbal medicine and problems that the regulatory authorities have had in attempting to deal with these products, especially since the passage of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA). The chapters are arranged by general therapeutic indication and discuss the herbs used to treat various ailments and their reported efficacy based on clinical or preclinical results.

One obvious distinction of the book is the clear message that classical pharmacognosy is the only valid scientific viewpoint. There is still in this updated edition, the strong notion that there is a magic bullet within each plant that we only need identify and standardize. But this is seldom as straightforward as it may appear. For example, in the basic principles section there is praise of standardized preparations of hypericum, yet no acknowledgment that standardization based on hypericin is probably not useful, since it is no longer believed to be essential for the antidepressant activity of St. John’s Wort. Standardization and pharmacology of the currently favored constituent, hyperforin, was not mentioned. Publication in a scientific journal does not make a particular finding (e.g. hypericin inhibition of MAO) a "fact." Subsequent studies showed no MAO inhibition with pure hypericin. Conclusions and extrapolations drawn from results of in vitro studies are based on the conventional wisdom, which is often incorrect. While proposing a mechanism of action is a worthy goal, it must be remembered that true drug mechanisms (even the synthetic ones) are still beyond our medical understanding in most cases, particularly for psychotherapeutic medications. For example, while SSRI’s are known to act by blocking reuptake of serotonin, the connection between serotonin uptake and antidepressant action still remote.

Also mentioned as "pseudoscience" is the notion that whole herbs are more effective than their isolated active constituents. The basic principles section states that for every example in support of this statement that there is at least one denying it. While a 50:50 ratio hardly seems in itself a reasonable criterion for pseudoscience, I think one would be hard pressed to give one example of constituents being more effective than the whole herb for every example of the inverse. While I completely agree that hyperbole and sometimes outright fabrication are seen in the marketing of herbals, we shouldn’t be too quick to categorically discount what herbal practitioners have been saying for so long, but rather to weight them with the same standards as ideas that the "scientists" have generated.

Summary: Wait for the paperback or use the older version
Rating: 3

I have been waiting for an update of this classic book. However, for most health care professionals or herb users, I don’t feel the $40 price tag makes this book worth it. Wait for the paperback of this updated version or get the paperback 1994 version.

Derek T. O’Hagan and a team of expert vaccinologists and pharmacologists thoroughly describe the preparation, characterization, and evaluation of a wide range of alternative vaccine adjuvants for use in preclinical studies. Each chapter carefully reviews a single adjuvant, and suggests why a specific adjuvant might be preferred for a given antigen, depending on what type of immune response is desired. Alternate adjuvant choices are also presented so that researchers can choose those most efficacious for their specific purpose. Comprehensive and highly practical, Vaccine Adjuvants: Preparation Methods and Research Protocols provides an effective guide to making and using vaccine adjuvants. By closely following directions from the book, today’s researchers will be able optimally to induce specific immune responses against different types of antigens and to selectively manipulate the immune response in a favorable way.

Inside Dope: How Drugs Are the Biggest Threat to Sports, Why You Should Care, and What Can Be Done About Them
By Richard W. Pound

Publisher: Wiley
Number Of Pages: 248
Publication Date: 2006-09-29
ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0470837330
ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780470837337

Product Description:

An IOC insider speaks out on creating a drug-free sports culture

With doping charges leveled at athletes in baseball, cycling, and in the Olympics, cheating has, to many onlookers, become the norm in pro sports. With implications far beyond the sports arena, Inside Dope examines the genesis of doping in sports as well as in the world of doctors and trainers; drug testing and the battle to stay ahead of users; drug companies and big business; and the role of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as watchdog. Written by a former Olympian, an IOC official, and a passionate advocate of fair play in sports, this eye-opening book takes a candid look at testing standards and the future of doping and sports and the larger issue of how doping affects the public perception of athletes.

Summary: Bad
Rating: 1

Little insight, boring writing and a lack of any intelligible point. Save your money on this overpriced collection of paper.

Summary: Inside Dope: Not even close
Rating: 1

If you are interested in the wide-spread doping in professional (and amateur?) cycling, Pound’s book doesn’t even come close to an account that will inform, save for one point. Pound raises, albeit indirectly, the question for all professional atheletes: if one is to perform in order to win, and winning is the only consideration, then one has to chose to dope or run clean. Pound spends about 80% of the book sidestepping that issue while pontificating and lecturing from psuedo-case studies that are not really relevant to the cycling issues. The remaining 20% of the book was a lecture from an all-knowing elder who has never participated in cycling or running at a high level of competition: don’t do this, don’t do this, etc. I was interested in what Pound had to say at the beginning, but by the end I felt this book was a waste of time and money. I think Pound should stick to the WADA issues that could actually improve testing and oversight of all sport, specifically cycling.
