When people deny that the Greeks were the first people to discover science, as happened even in Ancient times, they are not concerned with historical accuracy. They are reading history ideologically in terms of controversies between nations, religions, and civilizations (for example, between the Greeks and Egyptians, or the Greeks and the Jews). Later controversies about the conception of science also contain the same non-scientific element, and this exacerbates the controversy, for example, in the Protestant critique of Aristotelianism. In one way or another, we should consider that the controversy over science or the conception of science is deeply rooted in controversies extrinsic to science.
