MBA Career Bible
PDF | 263 pages | 2008 | 1.60 MB | English

MBA hiring began to strengthen in 2005 and continued to do so in 2006-2007, according to surveys focused on the hiring landscape for new business school graduates. In its annual 2007 Corporate Recruiters Survey, based on the responses of 1,382 recruiters representing 1,029 companies, the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) found that companies planned to do more MBA hiring in 2007 than in 2006, as measured by planned on-campus recruiting, percentage of new hires expected to be new MBAs and other metrics. Recruiters surveyed expected to sign on 18 percent more MBA-holders in 2007 than in 2006, a larger increase than for any other type of hire.
"The heat is on for corporate recruiters," says Ronald Alsop of The Wall Street Journal. Competition for MBA graduates is so high that companies are increasing their recruiting efforts--visiting business schools earlier and more often. In the future, they're going to be looking at more candidates, too: the National Association of Colleges and Employers' (NACE) 2005 MBA Benchmark Survey notes that companies are visiting more business schools year after year.

Real Estate Investment in Asia Pacific: Migrating Capital
KPMG | 2008 | English | PDF | 70 pages | 4 MB
Property investment has emerged as an asset class, but it remains difficult to access and is often beset by complex structures and regulation. The factors governing investment decisions differ greatly from one market to another.
Developed jurisdictions such as Australia, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore all have well defined and strictly governed real estate markets, often competing to attract investment from institutional investors with an Asian property mandate. The other end of the spectrum sees frontier markets such as Vietnam, China and India closely studying regulatory frameworks in the rest of the region as a guide to establish their own viable marketplace for international real estate investors.

Many would–be software entrepreneurs with expertise in many fields attempt to turn a homegrown application—one developed for use in their own business or profession—into a commercial product. Lack of knowledge, experience, or skills often prevents the idea from ever taking shape, let alone achieving its potential. Entering a new field to start a business leaves many developers unprepared and not even fully aware it’s something they know so little about. They will also often have a job that conflicts with the time commitment required to market the program well enough for it to become a complete success.

Sustainable Value: How the World's Leading Companies Are Doing Well by Doing Good
Stanford University Press |2008|ISBN 978-0-8047-5963-2 | English | 28 pages | PDF | 1.2 MB
Sustainable Value is divided into three parts. Part I is a management fable about Deena, a young CEO, and the challenges she faces to profitably address her company’s impacts on society and the environment. Her story is one of personal empowerment, of finding balance and connection to what is important in life. It’s also a tale of corporate profit and growth.
What makes Deena’s story unique is that her eventual success—personal, financial, and corporate—is the result of “doing good.” She is a talented but ordinary human being who demonstrates leadership in a time of heightened global problems ranging from poverty to the energy crisis and climate change.

Last year's headline-grabbing stories of the notorious bailout of Long-Term Capital Management and the 1.4 billion credit loss for BankAmerica opened the eyes of the investment world. These turbulent times have meant increased awareness of risk management and have lead to late breaking developments in new research, techniques, and theories in the field. Given the high stakes in today's business world with financial dealings in the billions (e.g., derivatives), it's easy to see why risk management has become the key buzzword on Wall Street.

Patent, Copyright & Trademark
NOLO | 2006-01-10 | ISBN: 1413301967 | 580 pages | PDF | 3,3 MB
Whether you're an Edison, Faulkner or Gates, you need Patent, Copyright & Trademark. Intellectual property law has rapidly produced its own language. But don't count on understanding it right off the bat -- the language baffles lawyers and lay folk alike. This book is an excellent first place to go for people wanting a foundational knowledge of Intellectual Property. In addition to the basics it provides surprisingly comprehensive overview of the three major areas of IP. Making this book an excellent one, and not just a very good one, it also discusses trade secrets. As with most books on Intellectual Property, there is little in the book about who owns patents, how one can transfer ownership to another party, or how one can inadvertantly lose ownership.
