Euclid's Elements is the most famous mathematical work of classical antiquity, and has had a profound influence on the development of modern Mathematics and Physics. This volume contains the definitive Ancient Greek text of J.L. Heiberg (1883), together with an English translation. For ease of use, the Greek text and the corresponding English text are on facing pages. Moreover, the figures are drawn with both Greek and English symbols. Finally, a helpful Greek/English lexicon explaining Ancient Greek mathematical jargon is appended.
Books 1-4 cover the fundamentals of straight-line and circular geometry, the fundamentals of geometric algebra, and rectilinear figures inscribed in and circumscribed about circles.
Books 5-9 cover the fundamentals of proportion, similar figures, and number theory.

C++ is a powerful, highly flexible, and adaptable programming language that allows software engineers to organize and process information quickly and effectively. But this high-level language is relatively difficult to master, even if you already know the C programming language. The 2nd edition of Practical C++ Programming is a complete introduction to the C++ language for programmers who are learning C++. Reflecting the latest changes to the C++ standard, this 2nd edition takes a useful down-to-earth approach, placing a strong emphasis on how to design clean, elegant code. In short, to-the-point chapters, all aspects of programming are covered including style, software engineering, programming design, object-oriented design, and debugging. It also covers common mistakes and how to find (and avoid) them. End of chapter exercises help you ensure you've mastered the material. Practical C++ Programming thoroughly covers:
* C++ Syntax
* Coding standards and style
* Creation and use of object classes
* Templates
* Debugging and optimization
* Use of the C++ preprocessor
* File input/output
Steve Oualline's clear, easy-going writing style and hands-on approach to learning make Practical C++ Programming a nearly painless way to master this complex but powerful programming language.

Learning Chinese Characters from Ms. Zhang is a set of textbooks for an elective course of Chinese characters for foreign students without any Chinese learning experience. This set of textbook includes Reading and Writing Chinese Characters and From Characters to Words, separating in a proper way the teaching of writing Chinese characters from that of reading Chinese characters. Reading and Writing Chinese Characters has 2 volumes containing 25 lessons in total. With the help of pictures, Reading and Writing Chinese characters encourages learners to associate pictographic elements with meanings. Grouping pictophonetic characters by their pictographic elements, the book lays special emphasis on writing characters and analyzing the origin and structure of the characters, aiming at helping learners establish a cognitive construct for Chinese characters.

Requiring only an understanding of differentiable manifolds, Isaac Chavel covers introductory ideas followed by a selection of more specialized topics in this second edition. He provides a clearer treatment of many topics, with new proofs of some theorems and a new chapter on the Riemannian geometry of surfaces. Among the classical topics shown in a new setting is isoperimetric inequalities in curved spaces. Completely new themes created by curvature include the classical Rauch comparison theorem and its consequences in geometry and topology, and the interaction of microscopic behavior of the geometry with the macroscopic structure of the space.
Review
"Each chapter concludes with an excellent section of notes and advanced exercises with further results, with hints and sketches of solutions at the end of the book...I think that it is the best reference on Riemannian geometry available, especially for someone interested in isoperimetric problems...Chavel is one of about a dozen mathematics books I keep at home for ready reference."
