Type-2 Fuzzy Logic: Theory and Applications (Studies in Fuzziness and Soft Computing)
Springer| Pages: 244 | 2008-02-25 | ISBN: 3540762833 | 7 MB
This book describes new methods for building intelligent systems using type-2 fuzzy logic and soft computing techniques. Soft Computing (SC) consists of several computing paradigms, including type-1 fuzzy logic, neural networks, and genetic algorithms, which can be used to create powerful hybrid intelligent systems. The authors extends the use of fuzzy logic to a higher order, which is called type-2 fuzzy logic. Combining type-2 fuzzy logic with traditional SC techniques, we can build powerful hybrid intelligent systems that can use the advantages that each technique offers. We consider in this book the use of type-2 fuzzy logic and traditional SC techniques to solve pattern recognition problems in realworld applications.

G. Crocco, L. Farinas del Cerro, A. Herzig “Conditionals: From Philosophy to Computer Science”
Oxford University Press, USA | 1996-01-18 | ISBN: 0198538618 | 376 pages | PDF | 15 Mb
This book looks at the ways in which conditionals, an integral part of philosophy and logic, can be of practical use in computer programming. It analyzes the different types of conditionals, including their applications and potential problems. Other topics include defeasible logics, the
Ramsey test, and a unified view of consequence relation and belief revision. Its implications will be of interest to researchers in logic, philosophy, and computer science, particularly artificial intelligence.

H. Peter Alesso, Craig F. Smith “Connections: Patterns of Discovery”
Wiley-IEEE Press | 2008-01-14 | ISBN: 0470118814 | 224 pages | PDF | 1,1 Mb
This book uses a discussion of past developments, an analysis of patterns of discovery, and a debate of prospective technology to synthesize a cohesive and compelling vision. It challenges the reader to think of the consequences of extrapolating trends, such as Moore’s Law, to either reach real machine intelligence, or else retrench in the face of physical limitations.
From this perspective, the book draws the “big picture” for the Information Revolution’s innovations in chips, devices, software and networks. The goal is to forecast ubiquitous intelligence where everyone is connected to devices with access to Artificial Intelligence (AI) — offering what Google founder Larry Page calls “perfect search.”

An Introduction to Non-Classical Logic: From If to Is
Cambridge University Press | 2008 | ISBN: 0521854334 | 646 pages | PDF | 3,2 Mb
This revised and considerably expanded 2nd edition brings together a wide range of topics, including modal, tense, conditional, intuitionist, many-valued, paraconsistent, relevant, and fuzzy logics. Part 1, on propositional logic, is the old Introduction, but contains much new material. Part 2 is entirely new, and covers quantification and identity for all the logics in Part 1. The material is unified by the underlying theme of world semantics. All of the topics are explained clearly using devices such as tableau proofs, and their relation to current philosophical issues and debates are discussed. Students with a basic understanding of classical logic will find this book an invaluable introduction to an area that has become of central importance in both logic and philosophy. It will also interest people working in mathematics and computer science who wish to know about the area.

Hong Zhu “Software Design Methodology: From Principles to Architectural Styles”
Butterworth-Heinemann | 2005-05-20 | ISBN: 0750660759 | 368 pages | PDF | 24 Mb
Software design methodology has come a long way since the 1960s and 1970s when programmers were limited to Pascal/C and SA/SD to create systems. When creating information systems for today’s world, many factors must be taken into consideration including globalization, the software lifecycle, modeling, coding, testing, and maintenance.
* In depth coverage of large scale software systems and the handling of their design problems
* Many worked examples, exercises and case studies to reinforce theory and practice
* Gain an understanding of the general theory of design methodology

Hojjat Adeli, Kamal C Sarma “Cost Optimization of Structures: Fuzzy Logic, Genetic Algorithms, and Parallel Computing”
Wiley | 2006-10-23 | ISBN: 0470867337 | 222 pages | PDF | 1,8 Mb
While the weight of a structure constitutes a significant part of the cost, a minimum weight design is not necessarily the minimum cost design. Little attention in structural optimization has been paid to the cost optimization problem, particularly of realistic three-dimensional structures. Cost optimization is becoming a priority in all civil engineering projects, and the concept of Life-Cycle Costing is penetrating design, manufacturing and construction organizations.
In this groundbreaking book the authors present novel computational models for cost optimization of large scale, realistic structures, subjected to the actual constraints of commonly used design codes.

Blood-Brain Barriers: From Ontogeny to Artificial Interfaces(2 volume set)
Publisher: Wiley | 2006-05-01 | 776 pages | ISBN: 3527310886 | 8 MB| Rapidshare&Megaupload
pharmacological and biomedical applications with sections on drug delivery and disease-related states as well as explaining in detail the role of astrocytes, shown to be an essential link between neurons and cerebral blood vessels. In addition the book studies how the structural elements interact in response to the dynamics of neuronal activities, necessitating adaptive mechanism of the interface.
A significant part of the book describes new approaches to how the barrier can be surmised for drug delivery and how it can be mimicked by artificial in vitro systems for drug testing. Finally, the involvement of the barrier in brain diseases is considered, focusing on inflammatory and neurodegenerative disorders of the brain.
Covering basic knowledge as well as specific information dealing with very recent progress in blood-brain interface research, this book will be of interest to a broad audience.
