The Dreaming was a monthly comic series that ran for 60 issues (June 1996 to May 2001). It is set in the same dimension of the DC universe as The Sandman and the stories occurred primarily within Dream's realm, The Dreaming, concentrating on characters who had played minor roles in The Sandman, including The Corinthian, Matthew the raven, Cain and Abel, Lucien the dream librarian, the faerie Nuala, Eve, and Mervyn Pumpkinhead (janitor of The Dreaming). It also introduced a number of new characters, most notably Echo and a new (white) dream raven, Tethys. There were brief (but often important) appearances by The Endless during the series, including cameos by Dream (both Morpheus and Daniel), Death, Destiny, and Desire.

Humankind follows the story of Detective Alia Sparrow, who leads the human-crimes division in a heavily populated gothic city on the planet Thera. As she tracks down a serial killer, she finds out that she's pursuing a human from Earth, an astronaut who crash-landed on her planet. This sole survivor, a Russian Captain named Bruno Jarikoff, claims not to be a serial killer but a guinea pig in a government-controlled laboratory who has altered his DNA in order to carry out a nefarious plot against the humans on Earth.

J2 (Zane Yama) is a fictional comic book mutant superhero in the Marvel Universe. He exists in MC2, an alternate future timeline of the main Marvel continuity and is the son of the former supervillain Juggernaut. J2 is a member of the future incarnation of the Avengers, A-Next. J2 once had his own series, which lasted for twelve issues. He has made a few appearances in Spider-Girl (also set in the MC2 universe, starring the daughter of Spider-Man).

After his initial appearance, J2 ended up with his own self-titled ongoing series, however the series was cancelled after only 12 issues. He also made appearances as a supporting character in the first series of A-Next as well as the limited series Last Hero Standing and Last Planet Standing. Read more

Jeff Smax (born Jaafs Macksun), is a gigantic, blue-skinned, white-haired, super-powered, half-ogre policeman who lives and works in a city populated entirely by super-powered beings. Smax originally hailed from a land based on fantasy myth and fairy tale legends, but had left after a horrifying failure during his career as a dragon slayer.

The story deals with Smax and Toybox returning, via magical teleportation, to Jeff's magically enchanted homeworld. Smax, now a city dweller, seems embarrassed by his unsophisticated, sword-and-sorcery roots. They attend Smax's uncle's funeral where Jeff introduces Robyn as his wife, though no such relationship exists. At this point we are introduced to Jeff's sister, Rexa Macksun, dressed in the typical garb of a female fantasy barbarian such as Red Sonya and just as tall and physically impressive as her brother with the same blue skin and white hair.

The humorous tone caught most Moore fans off guard, as it was not quite as dark as his previous titles; still the series manages to touch on a number of dark topics, including alcoholism, prostitution and incest. The cartoony drawing style and "fractured fairy tale" content drew comparisons to Bill Willingham's "Fables" comic series, as well as Terry Pratchett Discworld novels (one of the Grim Reapers featured in Smax is revealed to be terrible at playing chess against peasants; similarly, the Death of the Discworld always has trouble remembering how the knights move).

Top 10 is a superhero comic book series published by the America's Best Comics imprint of Wildstorm, itself an imprint of DC Comics. Written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Gene Ha and Zander Cannon, the series details the lives and work of the police force of Neopolis, a city in which everyone, from the police and criminals to civilians, children and even pets, has super-powers, colourful costumes and alternate identities. Its deadpan tone allows it to range from farce and black humour to touching emotional scenes.

The story is littered with fantastic creatures and comic book references that add color to every situation, but the story at heart is still a police procedural, as the police track down murderers, drug runners, and gang bangers, and deal with their own demons. As bizarre as the citizens of the city may be, their basic human motivations, strengths, and weaknesses remain the same. The book also addresses a wide range of prejudices; monsters, robots and fantasy creatures often face the bigotry faced by real-world human minorities. The series also addresses a range of sexual taboos, including homosexuality, pedophilia, bestiality, prostitution, child prostitution and human / robot sex, and does feature some sexual scenes, as well as an extreme use of suggestive language.

21 Down is a comic book published by Wildstorm, and created by writers Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti and artist Jesus Saiz. 21 Down is also the title of a track on the album "Me Talk Pretty One Day", by David Sedaris.
The comic tells the story of young Preston Kills, who could sense how people were going to die. Preston also knew that he was going to die at age 21, hence the title.

Atari Force volume 1 is here!!
The second series was released monthly, in conventional comic-book format. Gerry Conway returned as writer while José Luis García-López became the main pencil artist. However, original series concept artist Ross Andru did draw issues 4-5. In issue #13, Eduardo Barreto took over as penciler and, in #14, Mike Baron became the regular writer through the final issue, #20. Issues 12-20 also featured backup stories by different writers and artists. In 1986, a "Special" issue was released with work by different creators, some of whom had done backup stories for volume II.
This second team, formed approximately 20 years after the first, was also led by Martin Champion. He was convinced that the original team's nemesis, the Dark Destroyer, still existed. Although he was correct, most of the rest of humanity did not believe it, but humored him due to his heroic status in successfully leading the original Atari Force to find New Earth. Other team members included Chris "Tempest" Champion, son of Martin Champion and Lydia Perez; Erin "Dart" Bia O'Rourke-Singh, daughter of Mohandas Singh and Li-San O'Rourke; Hukka; Morphea, an insectoid empath; Babe, an alien toddler of immense size and strength; and Pakrat, a humanoid rodent thief. Later additions to the team were Blackjak, Dart's human lover; Taz, a short alien warrior; and Kargg, the Dark Destroyer's former chief underling.
