RUSH CITY

Rush City is a six-issue comic book limited series published monthly by DC Comics from September of 2006 until 2007. The series is written by Chuck Dixon with illustrations by Timothy Green II colored by Jose Villarrubia. DC Comics produced a special Zero issue web-comic that is available on the DC Comics website, and was packaged with the August 2006 issue of the GamePro magazine. The title features Diego Zhao, an Asian American private investigator who goes by the street name of Rush. Although the series is a crime drama, it does however take place within the continuity of the greater DC Universe.

The first issue was published in January 2004, and the limited series ran until April 2004. The title was not released under the Elseworlds banner, but is regarded as a non-canonical story. The story describes the life of Clark Kent, a man in a world in which the superheroes are alive only in the comics, who suddenly gains the powers of Superman.

Written by Grant Morrison, art by Frank Quietly. Flex made his first appearance in Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol [#35], where he appeared as a shaggy amnesiac in the audience for Danny the Street's Perpetual Cabaret. Later in the storyline, Flex realises that he is actually "The Man of Muscle Mystery", and tidies his appearance. When Flex was still a "mac" instead of a "man", he was bullied a lot while on the beach. Tired of being scrawny, he was approached by a man with a TV for a head and smoked three cigarinos at a time. He gave Flex a coupon to fill out to get a body building book, "Muscle Mystery for You". The instructions in the book turned Flex into the muscled strongman he is now, and he learned that when he flexed one type of muscle, he could alter reality. As he did, his "Hero Halo" appeared over him, which read "Hero of the Beach". After this, he decided to become a crimefighter and dressed in wrestling boots and leopard-skin trunks.

"The Unknown Soldier" began as a feature in Star Spangled War Stories from #151 to #204 (February 1977). Created by artist and writer Joe Kubert. In 1997 Garth Ennis wrote Unknown Soldier, featuring art by Kilian Plunkett. A much darker portrayal of the Soldier, the story is about a CIA agent tracing the post-war activities of the Soldier and the Soldier searching for a replacement for himself.
