Amazon.com:
One might think a former Penthouse Forum magazine editor would be in over her head when it came to interpreting the sacred Kama Sutra for contemporary lovers. Surprisingly, Anne Hooper has grasped the subtle, but more important, messages of India’s traditional love manuals. She discourages readers from focusing on accomplishing distorted poses, as if they were athletic feats. Instead, she has written a compelling commentary that encourages readers to emphasize pressure points, manners, artistic freedom, and most of all finding and pursuing a loving sexual relationship rather than an overly choreographed one. Almost every page is illustrated with tasteful photos of nude lovers demonstrating the many sacred positions, while Hooper’s text offers suggestions on how to apply the ancient teachings to contemporary lovemaking. –Gail Hudson

Book Description:
Anne Hooper’s Kama Sutra updates and reinterprets the 2,000 year–old sexual text in a fully illustrated guide that features specially commissioned photographs and information on ways to enrich and diversify one’s sex life. In this classic volume of sexual learning, Anne Hooper brings together the best of the eastern sexual teaching, the Kama Sutra, the Ananga Ranga, The Perfumed Garden, and The Tao to create a new classic that encourages an emphasis on pressure points, manners, artistic freedom, and most of all finding and pursuing a loving sexual relationship. She discourages the focus from accomplishing distorted poses—-in actuality, they are advanced yoga positions—-and instead has discovered the true spirit of these ancient teachings and applied the teachings to contemporary lovemaking.

Review:A good old (steamy) Romance.

This book has seriously put my Ice Queen status in danger!!
I found it a great fun and easy to read. The fact that it ended just how I wanted it to left me feeling thouroghly fufilled. Although some could say it was slighty rushed I was glad it was’nt dragged out along with my suspence.
The only problem now is i cant get my hands on another Rachel Gibson quick enough to see what it brings, although I think Ill be avoiding “Watch Jane Score” due to Rob Sutter appearing in this book previous to this one(I fear it would be like hearing about your boyfriends ex-girlfriends!!)

Setting: Seattle, Washington
Sensuality: 8

At long last, Seattle Times columnist Jane Alcott has a shot at a full-time assignment. She badly needs the income, but unfortunately, the opening is for a sports reporter traveling with the Seattle Chinooks hockey team and she knows nothing about the game. To add to her difficulty, the team doesn’t want her, especially Luc “Lucky” Martineau, the Chinooks $33 million goalie. The team stonewalls when she tries to interview them and they haze her mercilessly; it isn’t until the superstitious Luc decides that she brings good luck that Jane gets a shot at being a real journalist. But when her acceptance by the team leads to spending more time with Luc, Jane finds, to her dismay, that he’s more than a handsome, empty-headed sports jock and her heart is in danger.

For his part, Luc learns that behind “plain Jane’s” boring dark clothing and black-rimmed glasses lies a quick wit, nerves of steel, and a personality that charms him. And when Jane appears at a team banquet with a new haircut, makeup, and a killer red dress with matching sexy stilettos, Luc’s affection fast-forwards into a major case of serious lust. But if Jane lets herself fall in love, she’ll have to find a way to explain the secret she’s hiding before it becomes public knowledge and Luc’s passion turns to hate. Can she bring herself to tell him the truth? And if she does, will he forgive her?

Set in the rough and tumble world of professional hockey, See Jane Score features an intelligent, likable heroine and a hero with depth beneath his sports jock façade. The layered characters, intriguing setting, and the novel’s compelling emotional plot all add up to an excellent contemporary romance. Don’t miss this one. –Lois Faye Dyer

XPath Kick Start Navigating XML with XPath 1.0 & 2.0:
XPath is to XML as SQL is to databases: XML applications need XPath to locate specific data within an XML document for further processing with other XML applications such as XSLT, XQuery, XPointer, XLink and DOM level 3. With XPath, these applications offer developers a full toolkit for transforming, linking, and searching XML data. Developers need to understand XPath to fully exploit XML in their applications, and they have few resources beyond the W3C specification. XPath Kick Start will examine every aspect of XPath in detail, including its influence on and use with these other XML standards. With each technique illustrated with real-world examples, the book starts with coverage of the essentials of XPath, including nodes, expressions, functions and operators. The second half of the book details XPath in practice - from manipulating XML data to transforming, linking and querying XML documents.

This book is quite academic in tone, but practical in content. It is more of a math book that uses imaging in its examples than a book about imaging that uses math as a tool. It does a good job of starting from the beginning in any mathematical topic it explains, going through an explanation of the theory including proofs, and almost always showing at least one imaging example to explain each mathematical topic. Exercises are included, but these are not generally proofs in the classical sense. Instead, you may be asked to draw a diagram or image proving a theorem, or be asked to explain how a particular image proves a theorem. Answers to selected exercises are in the back of the book. Because this book has such good explanations on subjects such as the SVD and information theory, it might be useful to students that are not that interested in imaging simply because the analogies made to imaging make the mathematical theory quite clear. However, the last two parts of this six part book are very much aimed at those who are interested in image processing. I notice that the table of contents is not shown here, so I do that next:

Part I - THE PLANE
1. Isometries
Introduction; Isometries and their sense; The classification of isometries
2. How Isometries combine

Part II - MATRIX STRUCTURES
7. Vectors and matrices
Vectors and handedness; Matrices and determinants; Further products of vectors in 3-space; The matrix of a transformation; Permutations and proof of determinant rules;
8. Matrix algebra

Part III - Here’s to Probability
9. Probability

Cryptographic solutions using software methods can be used for those security applications where data traffic is not too large and low encryption rate is tolerable. On the other hand, hardware methods offer high-speed solutions making them highly suitable for applications where data traffic is fast and large data is required to be encrypted in real time. VLSI (also known as ASIC), and FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) are two alternatives for implementing cryptographic algorithms in hardware. FPGAs offer several benefits for cryptographic algorithm implementations over VLSI as they offer high flexibility. Due to its reconfigurable property, keys can be changed rapidly. Moreover, basic primitives in most cryptographic algorithms can efficiently be implemented in FPGAs.

Since the invention of the Data Encryption Standard (DES), some 40 years ago, a considerable amount of cryptographic algorithm implementation literature has been produced both, for software and hardware platforms. Unfortunately, virtually there exists no book explaining how the main cryptographic algorithms can be implemented on reconfigurable hardware devices.

This book will cover the study of computational methods, computer arithmetic algorithms, and design improvement techniques needed to implement efficient cryptographic algorithms in FPGA reconfigurable hardware platforms. The concepts and techniques to be reviewed in this book will make special emphasis on the practical aspects of reconfigurable hardware design, explaining the basic mathematics related and giving a comprehensive description of state-of-the-art implementation techniques. Thus, the main goal of this monograph is to show how high-speed cryptographic algorithms implementations can be achieved on reconfigurable hardware devices without posing prohibited high requirements for hardware resources.
