The Czech language is a West Slavic language with about 12 million native
speakers. Czech is the majority language in the Czech Republic and it is
spoken by Czechs wh ohave emigrated all over the world. Czech is quite
similar to and mutually intelligible with Slovak and, to a lesser degree, to
Polish or Sorbian in eastern Germany.
Since May 2004, the Czech language is also one of the 23 official languages
in the European Union.
