Young, pregnant, and recently widowed, Leigh finds herself on a deserted highway when her car breaks down. What were formerly minor labor pains increase, and she realizes she's about to deliver. When the mysterious and rugged Chad Dillon arrives in a derelict pickup, the desperate mother-to-be accepts his help, an act that sets the scene for romance. Overall, this is a disappointing story. Still, Joyce Bean handles gender changes with skill, credibly delivering even Chad's baritone. While Brown's depiction of the birth is idealized, Bean does her best to portray it with realism.
