This book uses real-world examples to show how individual and collective risks can be blended and treated in a reliable decision-making framework that draws its inspiration from decision theory and market based mechanisms.
It then goes into deeper detail by looking at the implications of having to face risks :
(a) where some kind of probabilistic description is available and
(b) where none is available, using the example of insurable risks vs non-insurable risks. Again, by using real-world examples it shows how decision-makers can cope with such situations by a proper understanding and use of modern financial techniques.
Economics and Finance of Risks and of the Future reviews thoroughly modern theories and applications of the management of insurable and non-insurable risks, uncertainty and time flexibility that arise in public or private investment decisions. Robert Kast and André Lapied have done a superb job. Their book should be extremely useful to students, researchers and professional decision-makers in the fields of public choice, finance or insurance.

"Bad Money" is about the insecurity of America's future given a debt-gorged financial sector, and vulnerability caused by expensive dependence on imported oil. The term refers not just to the depreciated dollar but also dangerous attitudes and flawed financial products.
Kevin Phillips dedicates his latest insightful work of political and economic history to his grandson. It's a fitting tribute since, by the author's reckoning, the aforementioned young man might be well into his forties, and the U.S. deeply into its post-imperial senescence, by the time the mischief explained in the pages of Bad Money is fully digested by the earth's economic system.
Instead of reflecting upon and compensating for the turn to an unprecedented expansion of finance capitalism that today supersedes manufacturing in this nation by at least six percent of GDP, Wall Street, our empire's "coliseum," chose instead to gamble upon the promulgation of an unregulated class of investments known as derivatives, the size and scope of which, particularly in terms of their capacity to hedge against risk, could only be guessed at. So much for the efficacy of market deregulation. Through his incisive and perceptive use of charts and tables, and,in his exceptionally clear narrative, Phillips makes the case that our government lies to itself as well as us. Now, American have fifty trillion dollars in debt.

IF DARWIN HAD KNOWN ABOUT DNA - The Darwinism That Developed in a Climate of IgnoranceBookwork, Norwich,September 2008 | PDF | ISBN: N/A | 338 Pages | 5.95 MB
Too small to be seen with the naked eye, DNA serves as the data bank of our cells. Information about all the living things around you is concealed within this miniaturized data bank inside every cell of every organism. All the structural characteristics of a rose, an orange, a sparrow, a tiger or a human being are present in the nuclei of the cells that comprise these organisms. Look at your hand that is holding this book. These data stores exist in the nucleus of every single one of the cells that compose that hand.
These DNA molecules are invisible to the naked eye but in terms of their contents and data-storage capacity, they are equal to a library consisting of tens of thousands of books. As you observe the miraculous aspects of DNA, which can be seen only by magnifying it thousands of times, you will also appreciate how such minute essential component of life places the theory of evolution in an insuperable quandary. Examining the details of this extraordinary structure will give you the opportunity to ponder the infinite might, incomparable knowledge, scope and dominion of our Lord, Allah (God) and the universe He has created.
Every day, new discoveries are being made about the universe we inhabit. Billions of galaxies lie hundreds of thousands of light years away from one another. Millions of stars that fill those galaxies, whose dimensions defy our powers of conception. Giant planets constantly revolve in a complex order at speeds of thousands of kilometers without ever colliding with one another. Here, on one of the smaller of these planets, we examine the cells, the building blocks of life on Earth, themselves no bigger than a mere speck, under the electron microscope, an invention of the 20th century.

The Future of the Internet And How to Stop It
by Jonathan Zittrain | English | 2009 | ISBN-10: 0300151241 | 351 Pages | PDF | 5.5 MB This extraordinary book explains the engine that has catapulted the Internet from backwater to ubiquity?and reveals that it is sputtering precisely because of its runaway success. With the unwitting help of its users, the generative Internet is on a path to a lockdown, ending its cycle of innovation?and facilitating unsettling new kinds of control. IPods, iPhones, Xboxes, and TiVos represent the first wave of Internet-centered products that can?t be easily modified by anyone except their vendors or selected partners. These ?tethered appliances? have already been used in remarkable but little-known ways: car GPS systems have been reconfigured at the demand of law enforcement to eavesdrop on the occupants at all times, and digital video recorders have been ordered to self-destruct thanks to a lawsuit against the manufacturer thousands of miles away. New Web 2.0 platforms like Google mash-ups and Facebook are rightly touted?but their applications can be similarly monitored and eliminated from a central source. As tethered appliances and applications eclipse the PC, the very nature of the Internet?its ?generativity,? or innovative character?is at risk. The Internet?s current trajectory is one of lost opportunity. Its salvation, Zittrain argues, lies in the hands of its millions of users. Drawing on generative technologies like Wikipedia that have so far survived their own successes, this book shows how to develop new technologies and social structures that allow users to work creatively and collaboratively, participate in solutions, and become true

"
The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream" is Barack Obama's second book, and it is his personal view of the direction that the United States needs to move in terms of the type of politics we practice. It is not a look at whether one should be liberal or conservative--though he certainly does speak to the liberal positions better than the conservative ones; but rather about moving away from the divisive politics which have become the norm in recent years.
About the author:Barack Obama is one of the hottest political figures in the country, and the newly recruited President of USA. Precisely because Obama became President, The Audacity of Hope is an interesting read. I recommend The Audacity of Hope to anyone who hopes to understand Obama's self-proclaimed new style of politics.

This book gives an introduction to the bond markets for practitioners and new entrants who need to understand what they are, how they work and how they can be used, but do not want to be intimidated by mathematical formulae. By the end of the book readers will be able to decide whether to invest in the bond market. The mathematical formulae will be relegated to the appendices and supplemented by a companion website which allows users to enter their own bond market investments, to simulate anticipated events and see the results.
* Patrick Brown is well-known as Chairman of the European Bond commission (recently retired)
* The only bond book that does not rely heavily on mathematical formulae
Patrick Brown's book represents a clear, concise introduction to the bond market by an expert in the field. Throughout the book, the author introduces aspects of the bond market to the novice in a non-mathematical and very accessible way. Brown brings a wealth of knowledge to the topic, and this shows in the numerous interesting details that even experienced bond professionals may not be familiar with.
This book will appeal to new recruits in an investment bank, business students or anyone curious about the bond market and would be a useful reference book to anyone working in the bond market

"Who Else Wants To Learn The Secrets of One Of The World's Greatest Traders?"
(Without spending a dime!)
For those who have studied the work of this legendary figure, there is no doubt...Wyckoff was one of the greatest traders of all time.
He was one of the first people to recognise that patterns in price movement often repeat themselves. In making that discovery, he practically invented technical analysis. In fact, he was analysing markets and price movement even before charts were in regular use. Because Wyckoff was the first to study price in a structured technical way, he was not blinkered by the countless theories, counter-theories, and technical babble that can seem so confusing to anyone learning to trade now. And so his teaching of analysis can be thought of as being the most pure. He cuts right to the point.

Expert advice in a back-to-basics handbook on how to beat the market—the classic wayIn Investment Psychology Explained Martin J. Pring, one of the most respected independent investment advisors in the world, argues that in the revisionist '90s there are no quick, magical paths to market success. Rather, he emphasizes the timeless values of hard work, patience, and self-discipline—and much more. Drawing on the wisdom of creative investors such as Jesse Livermore, Humphrey Neill, and Barnard Baruch, as well as his own experience, Pring shows how to:
* Overcome emotional and psychological impediments that distort decision making
* Map out an independent investment plan—and stick to it
* Know when to buck herd opinion—and "go contrarian"
* Dispense with the myths and delusions that drag down other investors
* Resist the fads and so-called experts whose siren call to success can lead to disaster
* Exploit fast-breaking news events that rock the market
* Deal skillfully with brokers and money managers
* Learn and understand the rules that separate the truly great investors and traders from the rest
Reading Investment Psychology Explained will give you a renewed appreciation of the classic trading principles that, through bull and bear markets, have worked time and again. You'll see, with the help of numerous illustrative examples, what goes into making an effective investor—and how you can work toward achieving that successful profile.

The concept of profiting from trading volatility is not new, but is known to only a few players in the derivatives industry. Buying and Selling Volatility is the first book to explain this trading strategy in detail without using complex mathematics.
Offering a new approach to the subject of options, seen purely from a volatility viewpoint, the author uses illustrations to clearly explain the connection between volatility and options. He explains how investors can profit from the volatility, or lack of volatility, of an option price regardless of whether the market rises or falls. Useful to both novice investors and professional traders, Buying and Selling Volatility also supplies the reader with a risk management software system that is comparable to those used commercially.
Buying and Selling Volatility explains, with the extensive use of diagrams, how one can profit from the volatility (or lack of it) of the price of an instrument, irrespective of the direction of the price. It provides a unique approach to the subject of options, seen purely from a volatility viewpoint

Can you think faster than the market? If so, you may have what it takes to profit from day trading. More and more professional traders are reaping rewards from market volatility. The money making potential for stock day-traders is equal to that of futures traders because of the favorable cost of entry. The electronic environment also provides great opportunities for success in this growing field.
Within the subject of investing, the big buzz is over day trading. A day trader is someone who establishes a market position at some point during the day but who exits the position before the close of day. Day traders make money by making a lot of trades that take advantage of even small fluctuations in price. They also have the benefit of not having to worry about events that take place after the market closes that may have an effect on prices.
The volatility of the market and the ready market access afforded by online trading accounts have made day trading an attractive option. Abell is an executive with the Innergame Division of Rand Financial Services, a Chicago-based futures clearing member. His advice assumes a basic knowledge of the technology necessary for online investing. He provides step-by-step guidance on getting set up and describes various trading strategies and tactics. Abell emphasizes the need for a personal strategy and a business plan, stressing that no system is perfect.

It's no secret most day-trading profits are made by floor traders. They not only have the advantages of low commissions and ease of execution, but they have the "edge" or the ability to buy at the bid price and sell at the ask price. Although day-trading off the floor is a completely different game, traders also must have some sort of advantage that will give them a trading edge.
Certainly live, tick-by-tick quoting equipment is necessary, along with charting and technical analysis software. Most novice day-traders watch prices, analyze various intraday charts and indicators, thinking they can assimilate this flow of information and make profitable trades. They often hope for some sort of "sixth sense" to give them an advantage.
Unfortunately, the market usually demonstrates it has more of a sixth sense and soon separates the trader from his money.
Something concrete is needed to give a trader the confidence and commitment to "pull the trigger." There are so many examples in books and magazine articles isolating some guru's favorite chart formation or technical indicator that shows where to buy or sell.

In this excellent popular history, medieval historian Tyerman offers a short introduction to the Crusades, touching on the most salient features and helping readers understand why it's so important to ferret out from all the lore what really happened. While it's a tall order to present more than four centuries of wars spanning three continents, Tyerman rises to the task with aplomb, noting early on that "much of what passes in public as knowledge of the Crusades is either misleading or false." The Crusades were not, he says, solely wars against Islam, and their main purpose wasn't to impose Western economic or political leadership, especially since "there existed no strategic or material interest for the knights of the west to campaign in Judea." As the book's second half makes clear, the Crusades need to be understood as religious holy wars conducted by individuals who were infused by utter certainty that their actions aligned wholly with God's plan. Tyerman writes engagingly, and numerous maps and illustrations help to support his story—especially since, as he tells us, "iconography is never innocent." A sharply opinionated concluding essay traces the impact of the Crusades through the Protestant Reformation, Enlightenment and 19th-century romanticism to the present, arguing that Bush and bin Laden are "co-heirs to the legacy of a 19th-century European construct" of the Crusades.

Review
Tales concerning knights have always carried an undeniable whiff of romance about them. Crusader knights even more so. As depicted by novels and Hollywood movies alike, they were dashing fellows who marched off bravely to the Holy Land intent on liberating it from the hands of the godless infidel hoards. That image is overdue a reassessment in the modern age, when holy war has once again become an unpleasant reality. This is the task that has been undertaken by Oxford historian Christopher Tyerman. He chops away ruthlessly at the myth to uncover the nuggets of truth at its core. The Crusades could have been an extreme act of religious faith. Alternatively they may have simply been a symptom of European colonialism. Whatever else they were, the Crusades symbolise what fear of the unknown can do to the most rational of societies. A classic case of the "Them and Us" syndrome. (Kirkus UK)

The definitive work explaining this complex but important field of academic endeavor. Oh, and by the way, it's not just academic. The big question that financial econometircs addresses is: What can you learn about the future from the financial data available from the past?
This broad issue can be specified in many different ways, and all the important ones are discussed in the book... The vast literature on all the topics examined is assessed, rendered coherent, and then analysed by three men who themselves have made significant advances in the field.
A splendid offering...It covers many topics one could only usually find couched in the technical jargon of research papers, presented in this volume with pedagogical intentions. The language, while remaining technical, is quite accessible. It can be effortlessly read by scientific traders with standard knowledge of statistical methods... This book should be made mandatory reading in research departments. Derivative Strategies
This book is sophisticated, yet accessible; full of details, yet intriguing. Instructors will appreciate the attempt to make each chapter as self contained as possible which leaves them free to choose specified sequences of topics. Professionals will be pleased with the quick and authoritative introductions to important areas of Finance. Well written introduction (indeed, something more) to Financial Econometrics. It is alert, explicit and articulate about assumptions.

From the introduction:"Some of you may be rolling your eyes right now; all computers use the file and folder concept and some sort of colorful user interface, so there couldn’t be that much difference between Mac OS X and its competitors, right? Wrong. I don’t just say this because of some blind devotion to all things Apple; I’ve actually used different flavors of Windows and Linux for more than 13 years, right alongside my trusty Mac, so experience has been my teacher. If I have any devotion to Apple, there are plenty of good reasons why, the subject of this book being the first. Readers of this book who are already Mac users understand exactly what I’m talking about. For those of you moving from other computing platforms, it’s my desire that by the end of this book you will have a whole new perspective on computing and see what it means to really have fun while working with your computer. In Mac OS X Leopard Portable Genius you can learn not just the basics, but the subtle nuances and little tips and tricks that make using your Mac that much easier. As absorbing, as memorable and as well written as Mr Diamond's remarkable bestseller. It deserves to be as widely read. Clark amasses an extraordinary collection of historical data to explain why the Industrial Revolution was born in western Europe.
He arguments hinge on extensive archival research on the wills of medieval Englishmen. A Farewell to Alms asks the right questions, and it is full of fascinating details. And suggests that much of the world's remaining poverty is semi-permanent. This is a bold attempt at explaining why some countries are richer than others.
Clark's idea-rich book may just prove to be the next blockbuster in economics. He offers us a daring story of the economic foundations of good institutions and the climb out of recurring poverty. We may not have cracked the mystery of human progress, but A Farewell to Alms brings us closer than before.
We may not have cracked the mystery of human progress, but A Farewell to Alms brings us closer than before. Right or wrong, or perhaps somewhere in between, Clark's is about as stimulating an account of world economic history as one is likely to find. Let's hope that the human traits to which he attributes economic progress are acquired, not genetic, and that the countries that grow in population over the next 50 years turn out to be good at imparting them. Alternatively, we can simply hope he's wrong.

If someone told you they had uncovered a 300 year old secret that had the potential to bring great wealth, would you listen? If this, then, could explain the mysteries behind the secret so that you could profit as well, would you be interested?
For those of you who are involved in the stock market, technical analysis can be somewhat of a mystery. You research and study, yet your trades just don’t end up being very successful. All you need to know is how to recognize the easily-seen signals the Japanese Candlesticks create.
A candlestick chart is a style of bar-chart used primarily to describe price movements of an equity over time. It is a combination of a line-chart and a bar-chart, in that each bar represents the range of price movement over a given time interval. It is most often used in technical analysis of equity and currency price patterns. They appear superficially similar to error bars, but are unrelated.
Candlestick charts are said to have been developed in the 18th century by legendary Japanese rice trader Homma Munehisa. The charts gave Homma and others an overview of open, high, low, and close market prices over a certain period. This style of charting is very popular due to the level of ease in reading and understanding the graphs. Since the 17th century, there has been a lot of effort to relate chart patterns to the likely future behavior of a market. This method of charting prices proved to be particularly interesting, due to the ability to display five data points instead of one. The Japanese rice traders also found that the resulting charts would provide a fairly reliable tool to predict future demand.

In the past few years the financial markets have undergone tremendous changes. A host of new products and financial instruments have been introduced against a backdrop of a new technology that seems to make revolutionary advances daily.
The digital age of investment has arrived. Eventually, electronic networks will replace a significant part, if not all, of the trading activity in Chicago. Individual traders and investors, strengthened by knowledge of computers and an ability to quickly click information and services into their perceptual field of vision, are comfortable with the idea of bypassing brokers to enter the rarefied arena of the major Wall Street players.
The rush to go online promises to dramatically change the nature of individual investing both for the investors themselves and the businesses that cater to them. For individuals, online investing has meant a chance to take full responsibility for their finances: You execute your own trades without a broker to hold your hand. The Internet also has provided a radically cheaper way to invest.
Until the 1970s, the securities industry was conducted in its own time-honored fashion. The brokerage houses controlled the flow of orders, made largely to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), but to a lesser degree to the American Stock Exchange (AMEX) and the over-the-counter market (OTC). Not only was the order flow controlled, but the commissions charged to the general public were fixed. Price reporting was available at your broker's office or in newspapers, and only professional securities traders or high net worth individuals had real-time access to price and volume information.

Perhaps you've been buying stocks through a large, full-service brokerage firm but have not been particularly happy with the advice you've been getting. Now your broker has left the firm and no one has followed up with you. You are stuck with investments you don't know whether to hold or sell.
Or perhaps you feel pressured by a broker who may be more interested in earning commissions than in growing your capital. Whatever the reason, you believe now may be the time to take control of your own investment transactions.
Millions of individual investors have taken the first step and opened an account with an online broker. One such investor told a reporter, ''I've always been into computers, and the ability to do my own thing and not have to interact with a broker appealed to me." In the six years he has been trading electronically, he has used three different brokerage firms, switching whenever lower prices, greater convenience, or extra services enticed him
If you are prepared to go it alone, you will find an increasingly friendly environment online. Many Web sites offer demonstrations of how to set up an account or execute a trade, but some sites require you to register even if you're just browsing, which can slow you down.

As relevant today as when they first appeared nearly 75 years ago, the teachings of Benjamin Graham, have withstood the test of time across a wide diversity of market conditions, countries, and asset classes. This is a definitive and clear guide to understanding value investing, and conducting thorough fundamental analysis on a stock of your choice, allowing for an informed investment decision.
Featuring a foreword by Warren E. Buffett (in which he reveals that he has read the 1940 masterwork at least four times), this new edition of Security Analysis will reacquaint you with the foundations of value investing more relevant than ever in the tumultuous 21st century markets.
First published in 1934, Security Analysis is one of the most influential financial books ever written. Selling more than one million copies through five editions, it has provided generations of investors with the timeless value investing philosophy and techniques of Benjamin Graham and David L. Dodd.
This new sixth edition, based on the classic 1940 version, is enhanced with 200 additional pages of commentary from some of todays leading Wall Street money managers. These masters of value investing explain why the principles and techniques of Graham and Dodd are still highly relevant even in todays vastly different markets.

This is a well-written and comprehensive survey of the modern international finance literature. A highly recommended to PH.D students who looking for a dissertation topic. Researchers should also have a copy of this book for reference.
This is a text around which one can build a fine graduate-level course in international finance. The material in this text fits the needs of scholars for a state-of-the-art coverage of the best thinking on exchange rate economics. With topics like New open-economy macroeconomics and Official intervention in the foreign exchange market it should be clear that this book is broad in its scope and delves deeply into the area going well beyond the determinants of exchange rates.
This is a superb volume that should and will be featured on reading lists for years to come. It will also be valued by market participants, policymakers, and their staffs. This is because the book is very well written and brings a focus and organization to the subject that draws on the decades of experience and contributions of the authors.
An excellent book for experts on foreign exchange, covering most of the major theories in detail. Often said to be at PHD level, which is true, but the difficult mathamatics is avoided as much as possible so is accesable to all those with a good knowledge of exchange rate theory.

Brilliant! There has been an unfilled market for this type of book. . . . Happily, this book . . .is by a wide margin the best reference now available . . .
The book is very well written. It has a light, almost breezy style that is mixed with a subtle yet attractively understated British wit. It is above all a great read that is hard to put down. T he strongest part of this book is the discussion of the brewing process.
In summary, Beer: Tap into the Art and Science of Brewing is a brilliant achievement that nontechnical people will find accessible and quite valuable. It is also highly recommended for technical people because it does show how the art and science of brewing can be communicated effectively to a wider audience.
This book reads like a museum exhibit at a brewery. Everyone like museums and everyone like brewerys. The author lets you see some of the more in-depth processes that are not done directly at the brewery, tells you about how the brewery does things and gives you a general feel for how the industry works.
This Brewing Science/History work is full-bodied, of wonderful color, of high clarity, and More Filling. A charming and insightful mix of lay and technical terms describing the entire breadth of Beer processing and historical lore. The book has a distinctive English flavor to it which results in an added benefit of perspective for any American Brewers library. A very affordable reference work.

This book contends that the East Asian financial constitution lacks an appropriate infrastructure, resulting in inefficient allocation of high savings and an over-inflated short-term debt market. It goes on to point out that despite high savings, East Asia’s dependency on financial centers outside the region is also relatively high, and that there is no strong region-wide network to connect various financial centers in East Asia.
Against this economic background, the contributors make recommendations for the establishment of effective and stable capital recycling in East Asia. The financial intermediary function of the regional financial centers - Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo - is evaluated. Discussion focuses on the issues of building an organic network between the financial markets of major economies in the region and enhancing the future role and function of those regional financial centers.
The policy implications of the future development of regional financial markets - based on regional financial networks - that could potentially act as intermediaries between the high savings and productive sectors in East Asia are also examined.
The general topic is important and highly policy relevant; the authors are well-known, outstanding specialists; and the contents are very good, and very readable. You will be impressed by the substance evidently embodied in each chapter. The discussion and analysis is sensible and appropriately careful, nuanced, and cautious. The text is well written, logical and clear and I am confident this book will have great appeal among scholars and market practitioners. The topics are important, even hot, and will continue to be.

This book will help you adapt professional investing strategies to boost the value of your portfolio.
Fundamental analysis is the approach that uncovers gems, or companies with excellent market prospects, before the big investment firms find them out. Used by the world's most successful stock investors, it remains just barely out of reach of ordinary investors. Mastering Fundamental Analysis performs the valuable service of leading everyday investors into better investment decisions while allowing them to learn at their own pace through the use of worksheets, forms, graphs, charts, checklists, examples, definitions, sidebars, and step by step examples.
In comparison to technical analysis, investors also follow financial information with great interest. This activity is called fundamental analysis, which is the study of recent and historical financial results of a corporation for the purpose of forecasting future investment value.
All of investing is about cyclesthe unending tendency of events to move upward and downward, to be alternatively positive and negative, optimistic and pessimistic, good and bad. Cycles are devices that describe this tendency and that can be used to predict, track, and recognize cyclical movements.

In this book, Elias relates finance to the changing demographics of America and the rest of the world. His predictions about the future global economy are based on solid research and historical comparison. He focuses on Blue chip investing and gives Solid low-mid level risk advice.
He actually gives recommendations on specific companies. His diversified portfolios allow for investors to invest using his advice with some freedom. This is the best book on the market and investing I have ever read. A must read for newcomers and veterans.
This book discusses some of the major trends occurring in the world likely to affect stock values and gives some good investing advice.
Call David Elias an optimist. He expects the Dow Jones Industrial Average to hit 40,000 by the year 2016, and he stands by his prediction, even in the wake of the stock market down turn. His target doesn't sound so outlandish if you consider that, in order to hit 40,000, the Dow must rise by only 9% annually in the next 16 years. (Investors already have accustomed themselves to much grander annual returns.) However, Elias, an investment adviser, might strike some readers as a bit too cheery. He says interest rates and inflation will remain low for a decade, and he predicts that the developing world will goose profits by buying ever-increasing quantities of products from U.S. companies. Elias also argues that the much-feared backlash from Baby Boomers pulling out of the market after they retire will prove a myth. While Elias' outlook is relentlessly buoyant, we [...] recommend his information to investors and his book's ripe conversational fodder to futurists and analysts.

With this book, Thomas Heberer has written the first in-depth analysis of "entrepreneurs" in China and Vietnam. Key question raised is the role played by entrepreneurs in the process of the recent astonishing political and economic change.
Based on a survey among several hundreds of these entrepreneurs, the author convincingly argues that this strategic group has a strong desire for a true say in political decision making. As a body, a strategic group, they have indeed through various means come to exercise an important function in political development and change.
It so becomes clear that over the past decades private entrepreneurs have grown into a primary leading, definitely distinct social group in terms of income and social status with considerable influence on all levels of society.

The Millionaire next Door is a good learning material about wealth and wealthy people. The most amazing part of this audio course is it provides all kind of statistic and facts to discuss the spending habits, money mindsets and money behavior of the wealthy people. The course also shows us that most of the wealthy people looked ordinary and normal.
However, the people who owned fancy car and biggest house, in reality are broke! They just look like a wealthy people and they are also the one who suffers from money problems.
How can you join the ranks of America's wealthy (defined as people whose net worth is over one million dollars)? It's easy, say doctors Stanley and Danko, who have spent the last 20 years interviewing members of this elite club: you just have to follow seven simple rules. The first rule is, always live well below your means. The last rule is, choose your occupation wisely.
You'll have to read this book to find out the other five. It's only fair. The authors' conclusions are commonsensical. But, as they point out, their prescription often flies in the face of what we think wealthy people should do.

This book is a treasure trove of practical research and pithy thoughts based on Gastineau's decades of experience; a valuable guide for the thoughtful investor. It will jar armchair mutual fund investors out of their PJ's. If you think checking out your funds in Morningstar and Lipper has you covered, you best read this book.
This book is a must-read for fund investors. Gastineau carefully discusses many important factors such as taxes, capital gains overhang, trading costs, turnover, benchmark selection, active management, expense ratio, and aggressive trading by market timers. These factors significantly affect fund performance but may be ignored by investors. Gastineau goes on to build a strong case for choosing ETFs over mutual funds, especially for long-term investors.
Gastineau's message is very powerful. He not only challenges some conventional wisdom on investing, but truly emphasizes how to add value to a portfolio. What is unique is his ability to move quickly from the big picture to implementation strategies offering investment solutions to both investment advisors and individual investors. Portfolio adjustments discussed can potentially have significant impact on a long-term investor's standard of living.
This is not a typical investment book. While it covers critical investment and planning topics, it focuses on providing a unique, effective approach to picking mutual funds and ETFs. It is written for investors who want to own funds that turn away market timers, operate efficiently, and deliver solid returns.

The Riff by Riff Series is intended to allow guitarists or bassists the chance to learn the most important riffs from their favorite artists' songs. This is exactly what Mark Phillips and Cherry Lane make possible in this great book. It includes all of the main riffs ( rythm tracks, mainly) from Kill 'em All to The Black Album in Play-It-Like-It-Is format. So for introductory players or pros, wheather your tonking out "The Four Hosemen" or ripping through "Blackened", Metallica: Riff by Riff is the book for you!
This book has music and tabs for every song by Metallica through the Black Album. It includes most of the rhythm riffs from those songs and in very few cases, a few solo bars. Advanced guitarists should look into the "Play it like it is" books because they contain entire songs, and not just 2-page rhythm examples
Hammett was invited to join Metallica following the dismissal of the band's original lead guitarist Dave Mustaine in 1983. This was prior to the release of Kill 'Em All. At the time Hammett was taking private guitar lessons from the now-famous Joe Satriani.
Hammett has written and contributed riffs for Metallica songs since the mid-1980s (particularly in the 1990s during the Load era). One of these riffs, used in "Enter Sandman", was written in a hotel room at 3:15 am, and became one of Metallica's most popular songs. It was the first track and first single on Metallica's self-titled "Black Album" and was ranked 399th on Rolling Stones list of the 500 greatest songs of all time.
The bridge for "Creeping Death" was originally an Exodus riff that Hammett took with him to Metallica.
