Gottfried Vossen, Stephan Hagemann, "Unleashing Web 2.0: From Concepts to Creativity"
Morgan Kaufmann | ISBN 0123740347 | July 27, 2007 | 384 Pages | PDF | 8.2MB
The most exciting aspect of this current era of the Web, which has come to be known as Web 2.0, is that everything is read/write. Whether it's people communicating and sharing content with each other on social network sites like YouTube and Facebook, or computers talking to each using web services, or people personalizing their news using RSS and blogs, Web 2.0 is a two-way experience - it's no longer a one-way, broadcast model as it was in the Dot Com era of the Web. Dr. Gottfried Vossen and Stephen Hagemann have very clearly explained this transition to the new read/write era of the Web, and they paint a picture of how it might progress to the next stage via Semantic Web and other technologies. original news

In setting out to redesign the BBCi homepage we knew we were tackling a hard task.
Many people use and love our homepage, so we know that any changes we make will evoke a strong reaction. We needed to balance the needs of these users with the needs of our own business. We needed to satisfy a large number of people with a range of different objectives, both inside and outside the BBC. Any solution requires us to make decisions, but we believe that we have at least made informed choices to ensure a sensitive evolution of the page.
