The Linux Cook Book:
Author: I wrote this book because I want everyone to know how to use this software, because I think everyone deserves the freedom that comes with it. I don't willingly use proprietary software--not because it is always inferior to free software, but because its use precludes freedoms that I find I cannot exist without ... freedoms that should be everyone's right by default in a free, open society.

The Jabber Wizard:
Jabber is an open protocol to chat on the net. Similarly to mail, you can type messages to your friends on your keyboard. Unlike to mail, your friends see your messages on their monitors the same time you type them. There are plenty of chat protocols like this. Probably the best known one here is ICQ, or Aim, Yahoo! Messenger, MSN etc. But all of these concurrent are proprietorially, that means they have their own protocols, own clients and closed architecture, to which is nobody allowed to see.

The Google Hackers Guide:
The Google search engine found at www.google.com offers many different features including language and document translation, web, image, newsgroups, catalog and news searches and more. These features offer obvious benefits to even the most ninitiated web surfer, but these same features allow for far more nefarious possibilities to the most malicious Internet users including hackers, computer criminals, identity thieves and even terrorists. This paper outlines the more nefarious applications of the Google search engine, techniques that have collectively been termed "Google hacking." The intent of this paper is to educate web administrators and the security community in the hopes of eventually securing this form of information leakage.

Inside Linux:
Part I of this book, "Getting Started," is designed to guide you through the installation of Linux. Part II, "Configuration," guides you through the configuration of Linux. Although some configuration is taken care of during the installation process, you eventually have to configure other aspects of the system after installation is complete. Part III, "Linux Services," describes the important services that Linux provides, such as email and networking. This section is a mixture of a how-to and a reference. In Part IV, "System Administration," we discuss the essentials of system administration. A quick reference can be found in Part V, "Quick Reference." Part VI, "Appendixes," provides you with additional helpful information. We do not claim that this book is an exhaustive reference, but that it provides a good foundation of information required to install and use Linux. This book will no doubt find its place both on the system administrator's and the Linux hobbyist's desk.

AIX Reference for Sun Solaris Administrators:
In today's heterogeneous computer environments, especially in UNIX servers and workstations, it is essential that the system administrator have basic knowledge of different operating systems. This redbook is written for Sun Solaris administrators who wants to transfer their knowledge of Solaris UNIX skills to the AIX 5L operating system. This redbook will basically compare system administration tasks in Solaris 8 to AIX 5L Version 5.1. But it is not the intention of this redbook to decide which operating system is the better of the two. This redbook shows the reader similarities and differences between each operating system. This redbook will also introduce Solaris administrators to IBM pSeries hardware. It is assumed that the reader of this redbook already has Solaris 8 system administration skills, and are familiar with Sun hardware. In the first section on each chapter, we will briefly mention how the Solaris tasks are carried out. It is not the intention of this redbook to describe in detail how systems administrator tasks are performed in Sun Solaris. In the last section of each chapter, we will provide a quick reference that will be handy to use. This redbook will demonstrate some ways to complete each administrative task, but not all ways to do it, because there are many different ways to do the same task in Solaris and AIX 5L operating systems. For example, in the AIX 5L operating system, system administrators can do many of the same tasks using three different ways: Web-based System Manager, SMIT, or commands on the command line. This redbook is a valuable tool for system administrators and other technical support personnel who deal with AIX 5L and Solaris operating systems.
