Product Description
Principles of Corporate Finance is the worldwide leading text that describes the theory and practice of corporate finance. Throughout the book the authors show how managers use financial theory to solve practical problems and as a way of learning how to respond to change by showing not just how but why companies and management act as they do. The text is comprehensive, authoritative, and modern and yet the material is presented at a common sense level. The discussions and illustrations are unique due to the depth of detail blended with a distinct sense of humor for which the book is well known and highly regarded. This text is a valued reference for thousands of practicing financial managers. Richard A. Brealey and Stewart C. Myers welcome Franklin Allen as a new coauthor to this Eighth Edition. Sometimes the addition of a new coauthor means that one of the existing authors proposes to take a back seat. That is not the case with this team. Dr. Allens addition represents a genuine increase in capacity and brings fresh expertise and ideas to an already tremendously successful textbook and partnership.

Product Description
All I Really Need To Know I Learned in Kindergarten is a book of short essays by Robert Fulghum, first
published in 1986.
The title of the book is taken from the first essay in the volume, in which Fulghum lists lessons normally
learned in American kindergarten classrooms and explains how the world would be improved if adults adhered to
the same basic rules as children, i.e. sharing, being kind to one another, cleaning up after themselves, and
living "a balanced life" of work, play, and learning.
The book contains fifty short essays, ranging in length from approximately 200 to approximately 1,000 words,
which are ruminations on topics ranging from surprises, holidays, childhood, death, and the lives of
interesting people including Mother Teresa. In his introduction, Fulghum describes these as having been
"written over many years and addressed to friends, family, a religious community, and myself, with no thought
of publication in book form."
Although amazingly popular, some critics found Fulghum's essays (especially the title piece) to be trite and
saccharine. Fulghum addresses this in an essay in his subsequent book, It Was On Fire When I Lay Down On It
wherein he mentions "grown-up" subjects such as sexuality.
Fulghum worked with Ernie Zulia (Director) and David Caldwell (composer and music director) to create a
musical based on Kindergarten (Mill Mountain Theatre, Roanoke VA, June, 1992) of the same name, and an
extension of the third book in his trilogy, Uh Oh, called "Uh Oh, Here Comes Christmas." (Mill Mountain
Theater, Roanoke VA, December 1998)
Over nearly two decades, the title essay, "All I Really Need To Know I Learned in Kindergarten," has spawned
countless parodies involving television shows, movies, books, and other phenomena. The standard format mirrors
Fulghum's own work, starting with "All I Really Need To Know I Learned From [name]," followed by a list of
quotes and/or in-jokes from the subject being parodied.
A modern classic, and a phenomenal bestseller, this simple collection of thoughts and gentle opinion has
struck a deep chord in readers all over the world. Observing our times in his unique way, Robert Fulghum has
tapped into the community that we all share and tells us something about ourselves and how to be the best we
are capable of. He reminds us to share, clean up our own mess, take a nap every afternoon, and to be aware of
wonder.
"Within simplicity lies the sublime." - SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE
"A healthy antidote to the horrors that pummel us in this dicey age." - THE BALTIMORE SUN

Product Description
Keith Devlin is the "Carl Sagan of mathematics". He writes: "Though the structures and patterns of mathematics reflect the structure of, and resonate in, the human mind every bit as much as do the structures and patterns of music, human beings have developed no mathematical equivalent of a pair of ears. Mathematics can be seen only with the eyes of the mind." All of his books are attempts to get around this problem, to "try to communicate to others some sense of what it is we experience--some sense of the simplicity, the precision, the purity, and the elegance that give the patterns of mathematics their aesthetic value."
Life by the Numbers, Devlin's companion book to the PBS series of the same name, is heavily illustrated and soothingly low on equations. But as he says, wanting mathematics without abstract notation "is rather like saying that Shakespeare would be much easier to understand if it were written in simpler language."
The Language of Mathematics is Devlin's second iteration of the approach he used in Mathematics: The Science of Patterns. It covers all the same ground (and uses many of the same words) as the latter, but with fewer glossy pictures, sidebars, and references. Devlin has also added chapters on statistics and on mathematical patterns in nature.
"The great book of nature," said Galileo, "can be read only by those who know the language in which it was written. And this language is mathematics." In The Language of Mathematics, award-winning author Keith Devlin reveals the vital role mathematics plays in our eternal quest to understand who we are and the world we live in. More than just the study of numbers, mathematics provides us with the eyes to recognize and describe the hidden patterns of lifepatterns that exist in the physical, biological, and social worlds without, and the realm of ideas and thoughts within.
Taking the reader on a wondrous journey through the invisible universe that surrounds usa universe made visible by mathematicsDevlin shows us what keeps a jumbo jet in the air, explains how we can see and hear a football game on TV, allows us to predict the weather, the behavior of the stock market, and the outcome of elections. Microwave ovens, telephone cables, children's toys, pacemakers, automobiles, and computersall operate on mathematical principles. Far from a dry and esoteric subject, mathematics is a rich and living part of our culture. An exploration of an often woefully misunderstood subject, The Language of Mathematics celebrates the simplicity, the precision, the purity, and the elegance of mathematics.
