Thanks for the reply be037446 but it didn't work.
However I finally succeeded by installing Vista from XP, the install then ran as normal but there is one difference I have found.
When Vista is installed via the DVD bootup, then regardless of the drive it is placed, on it always prempts C: as its drive when it is booted. By installing from XP the drive always stays at D:
