My sis has Windows XP Home with SP3 (big mistake updating) and can no longer access the optical drives.
I have just (Windows) updated a no-name desktop. It has XP Home on it. And now it doesn't recognize and tries to reinstall the CD/RW drive. It shows error code 39.
I have gone into device manager and uninstalled and rebooted many times.
I researched to try to find an answer and discovered the PnP enumerator is missing!!! I tried the ms help to no avail.
I have tried deleting the upper and lower filters in the registry but it did not work.

Everything else seems to be working fine except this.
Does anyone have a solution to fix this problem? Please help!!!
