I have a laptop that came with an OEM license for XP Home that was automatically activated with the OEM SLP mechanism. The laptop brand is Cicero, a super cheap almost no-name brand haha.
Anyway, is it possible to format the hard drive and install XP Pro with a generic XP Pro OEM SLP key (like the one on the wikipedia page) and have it auto-activate the same way the XP Home was activated at the factory? I have a back up copy of the necessary OEM files from the XP Home disk that came with the laptop.
Is the OEM SLP information in the BIOS independent of the XP version?
Furthermore, are there any tools out there that could check whether a given BIOS has the necessary OEM SLP 1.0 information for an offline XP activation? I'm not sure if Everest is good for this like it is for SLP 2.0 for Vista.
