For some reason, after using Windows 7 for a few minutes I end up with certain "un"killable processes. Pressing on "End Process" or "End Process Tree" does nothing. I've tried all tricks we've been using since the WinXP era, but no lack. Even command prompt doesn't help. The process hangs, e.g. powerpnt.exe and stays there till restart. Otherwise the OS works just fine, except for the process that "hangs."
The behavior looks similar to having Zone Alarm installed on another OS.
FYI, I have Norton 2009 installed.
Any ideas?

What process are you talking about ? Maybe going to services.msc could help turning the bad one from running

Why did it stop anyway? Does this DVD install properly at all on any PC? You should check it on another PC or in VMware, if it does not then you just need to burn a new one properly and finish the install process

What you can try is booting from a Vista install CD, or maybe that one and try a repair, like repair starup I mean. That should be possible with a Vista CD

If not, try this >>>
reverting from vista boot loader to xp :

- put the Vista install DVD in your player (or mount it)

- Go to windows console : start menu > execute then “cmd” in the console

- Go to the boot folder on vista’s hd (ie d:boot)

- Enter the following command : bootsect.exe -NT52 All

Or one of these methods >>>

HP Pavilion ZD7379EA bios mod request

Hello, I am new here at Keznews forum.

And i have a bios mod request for my Laptop, HP Pavilion ZD7379EA
Adding Slic Table.

Direct Link to bios: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33001-33500/sp33465.exe
Extract the sp33465.exe with winrar.
Then you extract F38.exe from sp33465.exe, Then open F38.exe with winrar and extract NT2R.exe
And then extract the contents of NT2R.exe, and there you have the bios.rom file: bios.wph

I have checked the bios with Everest Ultimate Edition 2007.
And It has a pheonix bios. And It has a ACPI table.

So If anyone could add a slic table to this bios, so I can activate Vista.

I would be happy If someone can help me mod the bios.

I tried but the Phoenix Bios Tool was more advanced than i thought.

Tried that, still stalls on 'press any key toboot from cd'

So you mean, that without any cd/dvd in your drive it keep telling you same error ?

If its the case, put back your win7 dvd in and try repairing boot sector, do same with your xp disk too
