Question About Upgrading/Downgrading

I want to be able to test win7 again, but I have a small question
Im currently on vista x64 sp2, and wondered is it possible to upgrade to win7 x64 beta, and then at a later time, downgrade again without losing anything?
Ie will I have to reinstall vista again after upgrading?
Wasnt sure of this so I thought id ask before doing it!
