help remove win7

hi

ive been trying for last few days to remove win7 and re-install winxp but with no luck keep getting the dreaded blue screen of death?!
i know its to do with the boot sector and ive tried allsorts but with no success.
has anyone got a simple program that will fix the boot sector ready for xp so i can format my drive and at last run xp...or at least an idiots guide of what i need as its driving me nuts
