Microsoft has responded to Apple's complaint about the software giant's Laptop Hunters campaign by quietly tweaking at least one of the ads, taking down the old ad from its website and sites like YouTube, and replacing it with a new one. The only difference is that the new ad no longer mentions specific numbers because Apple recently lowered pricing on its Mac notebooks. "We slightly adjusted the ads to reflect the updated pricing of the Mac laptop shown in the TV advertisement," a Microsoft spokesperson told Ars. "This does not change the focus of the campaign which is to showcase the value and choice of the PC." A quick check through all the Laptop Hunters ads on YouTube shows that the fifth one was the only one to be changed out of the six ads.

It’s time to bust out the champagne and give a toast to Windows 7’s future success; Microsoft has officially released Windows 7 to manufacturing, the build string being 7600.16385.090713-1255, as confirmed by a Microsoft spokesperson. The signoff was originally set to be announced on the 13th, however for some reason they were unable to meet the targeted date, possibly due to some show-stopper bug present in the OS that they wanted to iron out before the big signoff.

I installed windows 7 rtm 16385.I also installed windows 7 toolkit 1.8 and I tried both to activate and to install OEM info. the only thing I obtained is that windows 7 is valid unitl 02/03/2010. Is there something wrong? Can now m$ detect my system? Can I go back and use the rearm?

Did you read the source code, or why do you state, that a new OS that changes only a few apis and structures is thee same old thing? Microsoft will likely announce that Windows 7 has reached "release to manufacturing," or RTM, status on Wednesday, sources said.

The company would neither confirm or deny that Windows 7 will RTM Wednesday; a spokeswoman on Tuesday simply repeated the company's earlier pledge that it would move the new operating system into its final pre-sale phase sometime "in the second half of July."

"RTM almost seems like a non-event," said Michael Cherry, an analyst with Directions on Microsoft, who stressed that he had no special knowledge of when Microsoft would declare Windows 7 finished. "But it's got to be any day now."

If the company does put its seal of approval on Windows 7 on Wednesday, it would be able to note that it successfully met the deadline when officials hold their quarterly earnings call with Wall Street analysts Thursday afternoon.

In Cherry's eyes, the importance of RTM has ebbed since Windows Vista. "You really have to give a lot of kudos to Mr. Sinofsky, who controlled the schedule," said Cherry, referring to Steven Sinofsky, who led Windows 7 development and was recently promoted to president of the Windows division. "We know what day it's going to be available, and it looks to be a decent product. In the end, he delivered."

Contrast that with Vista's rollout, Cherry continued, when "you wondered if they were ever going to finish it, and what they might drop along the way."

In a long entry to a company blog, Microsoft spokesman Brandon LeBlanc spelled out who will get Windows 7 RTM when. One of the few things he wouldn't say was the actual RTM date. "While I have nothing new to add regarding RTM today, I do, however, have more precise information to give on when you will be able to get RTM," said LeBlanc.

Microsoft's hardware and software partners will receive copies of Windows 7 RTM starting Aug. 16 or Aug. 23, depending on which partner program they're assigned. OEMs, or original equipment manufacturers -- in other words, computer makers -- will have Windows 7 in hand approximately two days after Microsoft's announcement. Assuming RTM is announced Wednesday, OEMs could receive final code as early as Friday.

Volume licensing customers, normally large organizations and companies, will be able to grab Windows 7 RTM starting Aug. 7 if they have an existing Software Assurance plan, or on Sept. 1 if they do not.

Developers and IT professionals who subscribe to MSDN (Microsoft Developers Network) and TechNet, respectively, will see Windows 7 RTM show on those services' download pages Aug. 6. Oddly enough, Microsoft said that IT professionals would also be able to grab Windows 7 from the Springboard Series site "shortly after RTM." Microsoft was not available to clarify who would have access to the RTM, and exactly when.

Springboard is a public site that targets IT workers, and has in the past offered downloads of Windows 7's beta and release candidate at the same time those were issued to the public.

Consumers and other customers will have their first shot at Windows 7 on its official launch day, the previously-announced Oct. 22.

LeBlanc also confirmed that Microsoft will sell a three-license "family pack" upgrade from earlier editions of the OS to Windows 7 Home Premium, but did not flesh out that notice with pricing or timing information. Reports have circulated for two weeks that Microsoft would reprise the multi-license upgrade pack it offered for Windows Vista; at least one reseller has posted the suggested list price as $149.99 on its Web site.

Autologin - If enabled, a computer is logged in with default options (download, upload, quota, time etc)
Using Antamedia Internet Caffe Server to fully automate the login/logout process. As soon as Member, Timecode or postpaid session is started, Server will communicate with Bandwidth Manager and allow Internet access to the computer where the customer started their session. At the end of the session, access is blocked to the same computer, disabling any Internet traffic. This can reduce bandwidth if some online game has remained active or if viruses, spyware or trojans are consuming your bandwidth

In selecting material for this collection I have done my best to find puzzles that are unusual and entertaining, that call for only the most elementary knowledge of mathematics, but at the same time provide stimulating glimpses into higher levels of mathematical thinking. Surely no one today can doubt the enormous practical value of mathematics. Without its use as a tool, the discoveries and achievements of modem science would have been impossible. But many people do not realize that mathematicians actually enjoy mathematics. Take my word for it, there is as much satisfaction in knocking over an interesting problem with a well-aimed thought as there is in knocking over ten wooden pins with a well-aimed bowling ball. In one of L. Frank Baum's funniest fantasies, The Emerald City of Oz, Dorothy (together with the Wizard and her uncle and aunt) visit the city of Fuddlecumjig in the Quadling section of Oz. Its remarkable inhabitants, the Fuddles, are made of pieces of painted wood cleverly fitted together like three-dimensional jigsaw puzzles. As soon as an outsider approaches they scatter in a heap of disconnected pieces on the Hoor so that the visitor will have the pleasure of putting them together again. As Dorothy's party leaves the city, Aunt Em remarks:
"Those are certainly strange people, but I really can't see what use they are, at all." "Why, they amused us for several hours," replies the Wizard. "That is being of use to us, I'm sure." HHmmm, ok I ran the installer but it seems "stuck" at installing components.
It's just sitting there but it's still running according to task manager.
