PC World Magazine - September 2008 | 142 Pages | PDF | 35.21 MB

PC World is a global computer magazine published monthly by IDG. It offers advice on various aspects of PCs and related items, the Internet, and other personal-technology products and services. Each month PC World runs tests on various areas of the IT world from new pre-built computers, LCD monitors, graphic cards, motherboards, PDAs, wireless network routers and many more. The magazine also includes many reviews from products across the IT board including phones and accessories, cameras, and software from a wide range of vendors as well.

PC World is the best source of information on how to select, buy, and use computer products and services for home and business. It's packed with award-winning articles, monthly Top 100 PC and product rankings, evaluations and ratings from the PC World Test Center, tips, how-tos, consumer advice, step-by-step guides, and more.

PC World has a Top 100 section which rates and highlights the best home computers, scanners, digicams, power pcs, monitors and laptops and the like for those who make a mental wish list and who love window shopping. It does stories and features like who has the best CD-RW drives and what's included on them, and like which computer store or electronics company has the best customer services...all so the consumer can get the best deals for the best price. The design and graphics are attractive. It also has a nice How To Section, tips on working software and games, internet downloads which make life easier and fuller, and other upgrade info. PC World is a magazine which definitely holds my interest with it's easy to follow reports and down to earth writing style: it also has enough of the technical lingo for those who are 'really' into the technical lingo stuff. However, when the lingo gets a little dense and specific, a thumbnail glossary pops up now and then to help the reader out. It is a good mag if you love your computer, you love anything to do with computers or you want to learn more about computers.

This edited volume reconsiders the conventional wisdom that argues that the comparative performance of China has been superior to that of India, bringing together new paradigms for evaluating two countries in terms of economics, social policy, politics, and diplomacy. Essays show that if not outright wrong, conventional wisdom has proven to be overly simplified. The book brings out the complexity and richness of the India-China comparison.

  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 0824748182
Grade 9 Up–This eye-catching resource profiles no fewer than 450 scientists. The volume is arranged first by discipline, then by date, covering laureates from 1901 to 2001. The introduction to each section describes 20th-century advances, such as the synthesis of such compounds as ammonia, fertilizers, and plastics, and recent research in molecular, supra molecular, and materials chemistry. Individual entries include a portrait, birthdate and place, description and fruition of the research, and career development. Entry style varies slightly in the separately authored sections–physics essays contain quotes and hobbies, chemistry and medicine essays include fathers’ occupations. Essays on notable laureates such as Enrico Fermi, Thomas Hunt Morgan, and Linus Pauling are longer than those on lesser-known people. Original artwork, colorful captioned drawings of models and structures, and diagrams illustrate complex scientific principles and may invite browsing. Collaborative awards are cross-referenced in bold type and non-Nobelist contributors to the work, including many women, are credited but not indexed. Name and subject indexes and a table of the science awards by year are included. Both George Thomas Kurian’s The Nobel Scientists (Prometheus, 2002) and Nobel Prize Winners (1987) and Supplement (1997, both H. W. Wilson) have lengthier entries but lack Recipients’ great graphics and appealing format.–Vicki Reutter, Cazenovia High School, NY

This text/reference covers essential areas of engineering mathematics involving single, multiple, and complex variations. Taken as a whole, this book provides a succinct, carefully organized guide for mastering engineering mathematics. Unlike typical textbooks, Advanced Engineering Mathematics begins with a thorough exploration of complex variables because they provide powerful techniques for understanding topics, such as Fourier, Laplace and z-transforms, introduced later in the text. The book contains a wealth of examples, both classic problems used to illustrate concepts, and interesting real-life examples from scientific literature.Ideal for a two-semester course on advanced engineering mathematics, Advanced Engineering Mathematics is concise and well-organized, unlike the long, detailed texts used to teach this subject. Since almost every engineer and many scientists need the skills covered in this book for their daily work, Advanced Engineering Mathematics also makes an excellent reference for practicing engineers and scientists.

David Icke’s most powerful and explosive book to date includes the astonishing background to the murder of Diana, Princess of Wales. Every man, woman and child on the planet is affected by the stunning information that Icke exposes. He reveals in documented, sourced detail, how the same interconnecting bloodlines have controlled the planet for thousands of years. How they created all the major religions and suppressed the spiritual and esoteric knowledge that will set humanity free from its mental and emotional prisons. - It includes a devastating expose of the true origins of Christianity and the other major religions and documents the suppressed science, which explains why the world is facing a time of incredible change and transformation. The Biggest secret also exposes the true and astonishing background to the British Royal Family and, through enormous research and unique contacts, he reveals how and why Diana, Princess of Wales was murdered in Paris in 1997. This includes information from a close confidant of Diana for nine years, which has never before been made public.

Paperback: 720 pages
Data: September 1, 2004
Format: PDF
Description: Engineers do not have the time to wade through rigorously theoretical books when trying to solve a problem. Beginners lack the expertise required to understand highly specialized treatments of individual topics. This is especially problematic for a field as broad as electromagnetics, which propagates into many diverse engineering fields. The time has come to find a middle ground. The Handbook of Engineering Electromagnetics links theory to specific applications with an integrated approach to areas such as wireless communications, fiber optics, microwaves, radar, materials science, and even biomedical engineering. This book not only provides the necessary formulas, figures, and tables, but also the underlying theory and insight needed to formulate and solve real-world engineering problems. A team of international experts discusses fundamental concepts such as Maxwell equations, static fields, electromagnetic induction, transmission lines, waveguides, and electromagnetic compatibility. They also explore specific technologies, various numerical techniques used for computer-aided solutions, biological effects and safety standards, biomedical applications, and measuring electromagnetic properties of biological materials. With tables and graphs integrated into the discussion, each chapter is a nearly self-contained oasis of practical and theoretical problem-solving information for individual applications, with references directing you to more in-depth information. Appendices provide brief compilations of key constants and units as well as a tutorial on vector analysis and coordinate systems.
