Exhaustion of address space and global routing table growth necessitate important revisions to the current version of the Internet Protocol, IPv4. IP version 6 offers greater address space and additional features to support the evolving requirements of Internet applications. Deployed alongside current IPv4 networks, IPv6 will restore the full-fledge network necessary for Internet growth.

Migrating to IPv6 gives a comprehensive overview of IPv6 and related protocols, the layers below IPv6 to the application and end-user layers.  Author Marc Blanchet offers a direct and clear route to understanding the topic, taking a top-down approach and ordering topics by relevance. Tried and tested practical techniques and advice on implementation, applications and deployment provide how-to information on everything you need to know to put the technology to work.

Migrating to IPv6:

  • Provides a complete, up-to-date, in-depth, and accessible practical guide to IPv6.
  • Demonstrates the theory with practical and generic examples and major implementation configurations, such as Windows, FreeBSD, Linux, Solaris, Cisco, Juniper and Hexago.
  • Provides a comprehensive reference to key data structures and packet formats.
  • Summarizes topics in table and graphical form to give fast access to information, including over 200 figures.
  • Offers an accompanying website with extra coverage of specific topics, information on additional protocols and specifications, and updates on new features.

This text will give network engineers, managers and operators, software engineers and IT professionals and analysts a thorough understanding of IPv6.

TagsArtificial immune Systems   [edit]

Over the last decade, the field of immunological computation has progressed slowly and steadily as a branch of computational intelligence. Immunological Computation: Theory and Applications presents up-to-date immunity-based computational techniques. After a brief review of fundamental immunology concepts, the book presents computational models based on the negative selection process that occurs in the thymus. It then examines immune networks, including continuous and discrete immune network models, clonal selection, hybrid models, and computational models based on danger theory. The book also discusses real-world applications for all of the models covered in each chapter.

The topics in this book were handpicked to showcase what we consider to be exciting and promising in computer vision. They are a mix of more well-known and traditional topics (such as camera calibration, multi-view geometry, and face detection), and newer ones (such as vision for special effects and tensor voting framework). All have the common denominator of either demonstrated longevity or potential for endurance in computer vision, when the popularity of a number of areas have come and gone in the past.

The book is organized into three sections, covering various fundamentals, applications, and programming aspects of computer vision.

The fundamentals section consists of four chapters. Two of the chapters deal with the more conventional but still popular areas: camera calibration and multi-view geometry. They deal with the most fundamental operations associated with vision. The chapter on robust estimation techniques will be very useful for researchers and practitioners of computer vision alike. There is also a chapter on a more recent tool (namely the tensor voting framework) developed that can be customized for a variety of problems.

The applications section covers two more recent applications (imagebased lighting and vision for visual effects) and three in more conventional areas (image seach engines, face detection and recognition, and perceptual interfaces).

One of the more overlooked area in computer vision is the programming aspect of computer vision. While there are generic commercial packages that can be used, there exists popular libraries or packages that are specifically geared for computer vision. The final section of the book describes two different approaches to facilitate programming for computer vision.

Most books in wireless communications address technical subjects which are relevant to ground mobile systems. Volume 2: Terrestrial and Mobile Interference of the Wireless Communications Design Handbook addresses a topic frequently overlooked in ground mobile wireless system design: interference problems at the hardware level. This book employes a hardware-oriented approach, which is the most effective approach for addressing interference and noise problems in ground mobile wireless systems. The book is a practical reference for engineers who are particularly interested in practical case studies covering how to avoid undesired interference and noise problems in their designs. It covers some of the most common interference models usually addressed, and it describes material related to transmitter and receiver hardware design and how interference control plays a significant role in equipment performance. Each of the three Wireless Communications Design Handbook volumes addresses theory and immediate applications. Design issues are also considered in detail for the protection of wireless ground systems against interference.

The paradigm of ‘multi-agent’ cooperative control is the challenge frontier for new control system application domains, and as a research area it has experienced a considerable increase in activity in recent years. This volume, the result of a UCLA collaborative project with Caltech, Cornell and MIT, presents cutting edge results in terms of the “dimensions” of cooperative control from leading researchers worldwide. This dimensional decomposition allows the reader to assess the multi-faceted landscape of cooperative control.

Cooperative Control of Distributed Multi-Agent Systems is organized into four main themes, or dimensions, of cooperative control: distributed control and computation, adversarial interactions, uncertain evolution and complexity management. The military application of autonomous vehicles systems or multiple unmanned vehicles is primarily targeted; however much of the material is relevant to a broader range of multi-agent systems including cooperative robotics, distributed computing, sensor networks and data network congestion control.

Cooperative Control of Distributed Multi-Agent Systems offers the reader an organized presentation of a variety of recent research advances, supporting software and experimental data on the resolution of the cooperative control problem. It will appeal to senior academics, researchers and graduate students as well as engineers working in the areas of cooperative systems, control and optimization.

Going Wireless delivers the unexpected by showing how wireless is transforming every type of enterprise from micro-businesses to multi-national conglomerates.

Award-winning technology journalist Jaclyn Easton begins with an in-depth look at owning your customers and clients through mobile commerce -- whether your company focuses on consumers or business-to-business.

From there you will learn about the advantages of wirelessly fortifying your mobile workforce of itinerant executives, sales personnel, and field service technicians as well as how wireless is dramatically redefining customer service, marketing, and advertising.

Going Wireless also delves deep inside the corporation. First you'll find out why most companies are "handsizing" in addition to deploying wireless technology to rejuvenate warehouses, supply chains, procurement procedures, data collection, competitive intelligence, and much more.

The best part is that these scenarios are supported by over 40 brand-name success stories, including:

  • How Sears saves millions by wirelessly enabling 100 percent of their appliance repair technicians;
  • How the Gap proved that by sewing wireless technology in their clothing they could reduce labor distribution costs by 50 percent;
  • How McKessanHBOC -- a Fortune 40 corporation -- used mobile technology to entirely eliminate all their manifest imaging costs.

  • While most people associate wireless with cell phones and Palm handhelds, you'll also learn that wireless has been around for over 100 years and has spawned mobile options you've never heard of and is being used in ways you've never imagined.

    This makes Going Wireless the perfect book for executives and managers who need a comprehensive overview of the wireless options that can make their companies more competitive, more productive, and more profitable.
