All I should really need to tell you is that this is a Jacob Bannon side project featuring Kurt Ballou. For the unitiated, Jacob Bannon and Kurt Ballou are from the band Converge, who if you've never heard of, should really check them out. Though I do understand hardcore is not for everyone, so let me say this, this band is far from anything Converge has ever recorded. It's far less in your face, a lot mellower, no screaming vocals, hardly any vocals at all actually, just on one song I think. It's definitely a surprise to hear this kind of music coming from key members of such a seminal hardcore metal band, but this is proof of their versatility.
