I'm a fan of Java-based frameworks (such as Echo 2) and was looking forward to this book on ZK as a nice introduction to the framework.
The book is slim but delivers on exactly the kind of content I was hoping for. It starts with a great overview, and then has a few real world examples.
I would have loved to see more information on working in pure Java (richlets), but otherwise found the content to be great for the size.
The only oddity is that my copy appears to have been printed off a screen-resolution PDF - all of the text, images, etc. look worse than if I ran it off on my home laser printer. I'm going to chalk this up to an oddity of how this particular edition was run off, but I would hope that this is a rare QC issue that would be quickly fixed. Download:

They may not get thrown to the lions any more, but today's Christians endure subtler forms of martyrdom, argues this strident manifesto. Limbaugh (Absolute Power: The Legacy of Corruption in the Clinton-Reno Justice Department) recites a litany of abuses and insults perpetrated, he claims, by separation-of-church-and-state absolutists and the forces of secular humanism. Most of them are familiar complaints of the Christian Right: school children are forbidden to pray before football games; nativity scenes are banned from municipal property; the media ridicule Christian politicians, and Hollywood caricatures Christians as Bible-thumping yahoos or axe-wielding fanatics. At universities where Darwinism, relativism and "sexuality studies" hold sway, Limbaugh says, vocal Christians get packed off to the psych ward. Most insidiously, Christians are continually subjected to sensitivity training-which often promotes a "homosexual agenda"-and silenced when they object. Many of the cases Limbaugh cites raise legitimate questions about society's hypersensitivity to religious expression (although the really serious abuses were often remedied after the inevitable lawsuit). Unfortunately, he tends to equate political controversy with religious bigotry, and Christianity with fundamentalism. Many of the issues he cites, like Democratic opposition to pro-life judicial nominees, or laws requiring Catholic employers to cover contraceptives in health insurance, amount to political disputes pitting conservatives like Limbaugh against liberals, feminists, gays or users of contraceptives, with Christians ranged on both sides. Limbaugh has a point: there are anti-Christian tendencies-rigid school bureaucrats, militant atheists and an often profane and irreligious popular culture-in American society. But there are plenty of pro-Christian tendencies too, such that Limbaugh's persecution complex seems overblown.

Several times he points out the difficulty of getting COW code to work in multithreaded projects.)
There has been a debate in the C++ community for years about whether it’s possible to design truly “exception-safe” classes. Sutter points out the difficulty with a precise analysis of the issues surrounding exceptions and C++ constructors. Material on the finer points of inheriting classes (including when to avoid and when to use multiple inheritance in C++) will extend your class design options. A good section here is the author’s explication of how to simulate COM/Java style interfaces in C++, which isn’t immediately obvious, even to experienced C++ developers.
Later sections delve into code maintenance issues, including advice for using macros, typedefs, and namespaces. (Advice on migrating existing C++ code into namespaces will help you combine legacy code with other libraries.) A final appendix shows off some benchmarks for optimizing strings using a variety of techniques.

A fuel cell is an electrochemical energy conversion device. It produces electricity from external supplies of fuel (on the anode side) and oxidant (on the cathode side). These react in the presence of an electrolyte. Generally, the reactants flow in and reaction products flow out while the electrolyte remains in the cell. Fuel cells can operate virtually continuously as long as the necessary flows are maintained.
Fuel cells differ from batteries in that they consume reactants, which must be replenished, while batteries store electrical energy chemically in a closed system. Additionally, while the electrodes within a battery react and change as a battery is charged or discharged, a fuel cell’s electrodes are catalytic and relatively stable. Fuel cells are very useful as power sources in remote locations, such as spacecraft, remote weather stations, large parks, rural locations, and in certain military applications. A fuel cell system running on hydrogen can be compact, lightweight and has no major moving parts. Because fuel cells have no moving parts, and do not involve combustion, in ideal conditions they can achieve up to 99.9999% reliability. This equates to less than one minute of down time in a six year period. This book presents new leading-edge research in the field.

About the Author:
Dr. A.K. Bandyopadhyay, now a Professor at the Govt. College of Engineering&Ceramic Technology, Kolkata, has a long association with nano materials and related subjects for over 25 years both in India and in the international arena.
After obtaining B.Tech. in Ceramics from Calcutta University in 1971 and M.Tech. in Metallurgy from I.I.T., Kanpur, in 1974, he did his Ph.D. from Sheffield University, U.K., in 1977 on Amorphous Materials. After a post-doctoral work on Solid State Battery Systems at Sussex University (UK), he worked as a scientist in CNRS Materials Science Laboratory at Montpellier for six years in collaboration with various renowned laboratories in Europe and USA.
After working with various multinational companies and gaining useful industrial experience, he has again come back to teaching and research on various aspects of nano technology including theoretical research on nano ferroelectrics and photonic materials during the last six years with an active collaboration with some universities in the USA. He has more than 50 publications in international journals and he teaches Quantum Mechanics, Solid-state Physics and Glass Science at the moment.

Stem cells are “generic” cells found within the body that can
make exact copies of themselves. They also have the ability to
produce a number of specialized cells, such as heart muscle cells,
liver tissue cells, brain tissue cells, and others.
As such, stem cells are

tissue in various parts of the body. There are two basic types: embryonic
stem cells and adult stem cells. Embryonic stem cells are obtained

of cells, embryonic stem cells have the ability to differentiate into

After reading through this book, I have decided to destroy it rather than donate it to the local library.
The amount of misinformation included here is almost dangerous in its scope. About half way through the book I realized that the inconsistencies would be obvious even to someone not experienced with computer technology
The preface is dedicated to MCSE instead of A+ exams.
On page 194 he claims that the original Pentiums
The book is riddled with this kind technical inaccuracy, making it unusable.
Sure, some of the information is useful - but what is the point of even trying to use it, if you have to double-check everything with another source because you can’t trust the author?
The next A+ book I read, I hope the author gets the FACTS right.. include 16KB L1 Cache. On page 195, he claims they support up to 512KB L1 Cache.
