Description: Discover how you can choose from among multiple strategies to easily move or access SAS(R) files across operating environments. In this guide you learn how to use CEDA, the preferred strategy for file access across a network. CEDA enables you to transparently read a network-mounted SAS file from any directory-based operating environment that runs SAS Version 8 or later, regardless of the file format of the SAS file; dynamically convert data between the native formats of the source and target operating environments; and change the SAS file to the format of the accessing operating environment. You can also learn how to use the traditional method of moving a SAS file across operating environments by creating a transport file that will be restored at the target machine to transfer across a network. PROC CPORT, PROC CIMPORT, PROC COPY, and the XPORT engine are used to accomplish a traditional move operation. Starting in SAS 9, another method of moving a SAS data set across operating environments is to use the XML engine to convert the file to an XML document. At the target machine, the data can be restored as a SAS data set for continued access. The information presented in this title does not apply to SAS releases prior to 6.07. This title is also available online.

Description: A practical reference written to assist the security professional in clearly identifying what systems are required to meet security needs as defined by a threat analysis and vulnerability assessment. All of the elements necessary to conduct a detailed survey of a facility and the methods used to document the findings of that survey are covered. Once the required systems are determined, the chapters following present how to assemble and evaluate bids for the acquisition of the required systems in a manner that will meet the most rigorous standards established for competitive bidding. The book also provides recommended approaches for system/user implementation, giving checklists and examples for developing management controls using the installed systems. This book was developed after a careful examination of the approved reference material available from the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS International) for the certification of Physical Security Professionals (PSP). It is intended to fill voids left by the currently approved reference material to perform implementation of systems suggested in the existing reference texts.

Description: This book is the only one available on security training for all level of personnel. Chief Security Officers (CSOs), security managers, and heads of security forces often have to design training programs themselves from scratch or rely on outside vendors and outside training companies to provide training which is often dry, stilted, and not always applicable to a specific corporate or government setting. This title addresses the theories of sound security training and awareness, then shows the reader how to put the theories into practice when developing or presenting any form of security education, training, motivation or awareness.

Description: PostgreSQL is an object-relational database server that is widely considered to be the world's most advanced open-source database system. It is ANSI SQL-compatible, and it offers powerful features to enable more complex software design than would be possible with relational databases that are not object-oriented. PostgreSQL is extremely modular, it supports a large number of datatypes, and programming interfaces for PostgreSQL are available for all important programming languages, including C, Perl, Python, Tcl, Java, and PHP.
PostgreSQL Developer's Handbook provides a complete overview of the PostgreSQL database server and extensive coverage of its core features, including object orientation, PL/pgSQL, and the most important programming interfaces. The book introduces the reader to the language and syntax of PostgreSQL and then moves quickly into advanced programming topics.

Description: We're entering a new era. Mini-DV filmmaking is the new folk, the new punk rock, the new medium where anyone can tell his story. "$30 Film School" is an alternative to spending four years and a hundred thousand dollars to learn the trade. It is influenced by punk rock's Do-It-Yourself spirit of just learning the basics and then jumping up on a stage and making a point, and by the American work ethic back when it was pure, before it became all about corporations crushing the little guy. Throw in the hacker idea that information wants to be free (or at least very cheap) and you've got our deal. Inside you'll find many interviews from insightful independent filmmakers and artists, as well as a host of practical advice, knowledge, and resources

Description: The first edition of “Applying UML and Patterns: An Introduction to Object-Oriented Analysis and Design” quickly emerged as the leading OOA/D introduction; translated to many languages and adopted in universities and businesses worldwide. In this second edition, well-known object technology and iterative methods leader Craig Larman refines and expands this text for developers and students new to OOA/D, the UML, patterns, use cases, iterative development, and related topics.
The book helps newcomers to OOA/D learn how to “think in objects” by presenting three iterations of a single, cohesive case study, incrementally introducing the requirements and OOA/D activities, principles, and patterns that are most critical to success. It introduces the most frequently used UML diagramming notation, while emphasizing that OOA/D is much more than knowing UML notation. All case study iterations and skills are presented in the context of an “agile” version of the Unified Process -- a popular, modern iterative approach to software development. Throughout, Larman presents the topics in a fashion designed for learning and comprehension.

Description: In the year 1900 at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Paris David Hilbert delivered what is now considered the most important talk ever given in the history of mathematics, proposing 23 major problems worth working at in the future. One hundred years later the impact of this talk is still strong: some problems have been solved, new problems have been added, but the direction once set -- identify the most important problems and focus on them -- is still actual.
Computational Intelligence (CI) is used as a name to cover many existing branches of science, with artificial neural networks, fuzzy systems and evolutionary computation forming its core. In recent years CI has been extended by adding many other subdisciplines and it became quite obvious that this new field also requires a series of challenging problems that will give it a sense of direction. Without setting up clear goals and yardsticks to measure progress on the way many research efforts are wasted.

Description: Consisting of a number of well-known open source products, JBoss is more a family of interrelated services than a single monolithic application. But, as with any tool that's as feature-rich as JBoss, there are number of pitfalls and complexities, too.
Most developers struggle with the same issues when deploying J2EE applications on JBoss: they have trouble getting the many J2EE and JBoss deployment descriptors to work together; they have difficulty finding out how to get started; their projects don't have a packaging and deployment strategy that grows with the application; or, they find the Class Loaders confusing and don't know how to use them, which can cause problems.
