Description: Prof. J. K. Tugnait, Auburn University
This is a very well written book (as are all books by Lathi). Various concepts are carefully developed and explained. The author tries to be rigorous without being formal, yet maintains an easy intuitive style that is particularly useful for juniors. (There are) lots of intuitive explanations with physical insights.... a must for an average junior. Examples, exercises, problems, and illustrations are done very well and are quite useful for self-study. (Historical notes) are a nice touch. Makes the material interesting and human. (Background chapter) is a nice feature.

Description: Whether you are a dedicated audiophile who wants to gain a more complete understanding of the design issues behind a truly great amp, or a professional electronic designer seeking to learn more about the art of amplifier design, there can be no better place to start than with the 35 classic magazine articles collected together in this book.
Douglas Self offers a tried and tested method for designing audio amplifiers in a way that improves performance at every point in the circuit where distortion can creep in without significantly increasing cost. Through the articles in this book, he takes readers through the causes of distortion, measurement techniques, and design solutions to minimise distortion and efficiency. Most of the articles are based round the design of a specific amplifier, making this book especially valuable for anyone considering building a Self amplifier from scratch.

Description: Digital control systems are becoming increasingly prevalent and important within industry. In recent years significant progress has been made in their analysis and design – particularly within the areas of microprocessors and digital signal processors. The traditional approach to teaching digital control assumes an understanding of analog control theory; Digital Control, however, teaches the fundamentals of the topics, assuming no prior knowledge of control engineering. Organised into five sections, it discusses modelling, signal processing and identification of plants from measurements, as well as the transfer function approach to, and state space techniques for, control design.

Description: Decoupling or non-interactive control has attracted considerable research attention since the 1960s when control engineers started to deal with multivariable systems. The theory and design techniques for decoupling control have now, more or less matured for linear time-invariant systems, yet there is no single book which focuses on such an important topic. The present monograph fills this gap by presenting a fairly comprehensive and detailed treatment of decoupling theory and relevant design methods. Decoupling control under the framework of polynomial transfer function and frequency response settings, is included as well as the disturbance decoupling problem. The emphasis here is on special or relatively new compensation schemes such as (true and virtual) feedforward control and disturbance observers, rather than use of feedback control alone. The results are presented in a self-contained way and only the knowledge of basic linear systems theory is assumed of the reader.

Description: Traditionally protected as monopolies, electric utilities are now being caught in the fervor for deregulation that is sweeping the country. Nearly forty states have enacted or are considering laws and regulations that will profoundly alter the way the electric utility industry is governed. Concerned citizens are beginning to ponder the environmental implications of such a change, and while many fear that the pressure of competition will exacerbate environmental problems, others argue that deregulation provides a tremendous opportunity for citizens to work toward promoting cleaner energy and a more sustainable way of life.

Description: Until recently, the topic of female sexual offenders remained under-researched, and many incorrect assumptions and beliefs still surround the subject. This book is organised in to five parts around eleven chapters. It provides a comprehensive overview of the latest research in this often overlooked area and discusses both adult female offenders and adolescents/younger children who commit sexual offences against children. After an in-depth evaluation of research literature, the author then considers a range of treatment approaches and directions for future research.
