Most of these were advertisements for mail order computer & computer parts stores. Since the rise of the world wide web and online ordering the magazine has shrunk a great deal, although it still features reviews of over 300 products per issue. The magazine was founded by Patch Communications in Titusville, FL in 1981. In 1982, Stan Veit was hired as Editor-In-Chief and the format of the magazine was changed. The Editorial was expanded to 25% of the content and the total circulation increased to over 200,000 copies per issue. In 1988 the magazine was purchased by Ziff Davis and moved to New York City.
