Systems Engineering with SysML/UML: Modeling, Analysis, Design

TITLE : Systems Engineering with SysML/UML: Modeling, Analysis, Design (Paperback)
AUTHOR : by Tim Weilkiens (Author)
PUBLISHER : Morgan Kaufmann publisher
ISBN : 0123742749
EDITION : 1st
PUB DATE : February 15, 2008
LANGUAGE : English
RLS DATE : 03/10/2008
[ R e l e a s e N o t e s ]

UML, the Universal Modeling Language, was the first language designed to fulfill the requirement for "universality." However, it is a software-specific language, and does not support the needs of engineers
designing from the broader systems-based perspective. Therefore, SysML was created. It has been steadily gaining popularity, and many companies, especially in the heavily-regulated Defense, Automotive, Aerospace, Medical Device and Telecomms industries, are already using SysML, or are plannning to switch over to it in the near future. However, little information is currently available on the market regarding SysML. Its use is just on the crest of becoming a widespread phenomenon, and so thousands of software engineers are now beginning to look for training and resources. The proposed book will provide an introduction to SysML, and instruction on how to implement it, for all these new users.

* The first available book on SysML in English

* Insider information! The author is a member of the SysML working group and has written sections of the specification

* Special focus comparing SysML and UML, and explaining how both can work together

Deformations of Singularities

Springer | 2003-04-28 | ISBN:3540005609 | PDF | 157 pages | 1,2 Mb

These notes deal with deformation theory of complex analytic singularities and related objects.
The first part treats general theory. The central notion is that of versal deformation
in several variants. The theory is developed both in an abstract way and in a concrete way suitable for computations.
The second part deals with more specific problems, specially on curves and surfaces. Smoothings of singularities are the main concern.
Examples are spread throughout the text

In an embedded system, firmware is the software that directly interfaces with the microcontroller, controlling the systems function. The major forces driving the embedded firmware development process today are reduced development times, increased complexity, and the need to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. These forces translate into strenuous design requirements for embedded engineers and programmers. Many low-level embedded microcontroller designs have insufficient memory and/or architectural limitations that make the use of a real-time operating system impractical. The techniques presented in this book allow the design of robust multitasking firmware through the use of interleaved state machines. This book presents a complete overview of multitasking terminology and basic concepts. Practical criteria for task selection and state machine design are also discussed.
Designing multitasking firmware is arduous, complex and fraught with potential for errors, and there is no one, standard way to do it. This book will present a complete and well-organized design approach with examples and sample source code that designers can follow.

* Covers every aspect of design from the system level to the component level, including system timing, communicating with the hardware, integration and testing.

Stealing the Network is a book of science fiction. It's a series of short stories about characters who gain unauthorized access to equipment and information, or deny use of those resources to the people who are meant to have access to them. The characters, though sometimes well described, are not the stars of these stories. That honor belongs to the tools that the black-hat hackers use in their attacks, and also to the defensive measures arrayed against them by the hapless sysadmins who, in this volume, always lose. Consider this book, with its plentiful detail, the answer to every pretty but functionally half-baked user interface ever shown in a feature film.

Nine different authors come together to show you a world you may have heard about but never thought could, would or will ever happen to you and your company - the act of being hacked and having information stolen.
