Getting the best employees on board and weeding out the worst-- without getting slapped with expensive lawsuits--are two of the most crucial and difficult jobs of human resources professionals and general managers.

Now there's quick, reliable information on how to do it right. Written by employment expert Paul Falcone, The Hiring and Firing Question and Answer Book contains over 100 commonly asked questions ranging from basic to sophisticated, including:

* Does my company need an Affirmative Action plan? * Why should I conduct an exit interview? * How do I find the best Web sites for recruiting employees? * How do I protect my company from negligent hiring claims? * How do I terminate a long-term employee with a history of positive performance evaluations?

Each question is followed by a short answer and a longer "Tell Me More" section, making the book perfect both as a concise overview and as a practical reference.

The power drill grammar book
Full Blast Productions | 2000-01-01 | ISBN: 1895451353 | 79 pages | PDF | 4,1 Mb

The reproducible, high-energy Power Drill Grammar Book offers 70 lessons on basic grammatical structures, common usage problems, the fundamentals of punctuation, and elementary paragraphing skills. It is intended for use with grammar students in elementary schools and middle schools. There are seven units, and each consists of ten lessons, including a feature lesson called "The Grammar Games." The Power Drill Book aims to combine enjoyment with learning, on the principle that grammar can be the most enjoyable, not the least enjoyable, of a student's (and teacher's!) subjects. What makes The Power Drill Grammar Book unique? It's fun. It's practical. The sample sentences are in step with modern times (computers, video games, etc.). Most importantly, the grammar is simple, clear, up-to-date -- and it's focussed on students' primary needs: error correction of their writing and speech, and expansion of their range of expression.

John Lee, Andrew Baranowski “Long-Term Pain: A Guide to Practical Management"
Oxford University Press, USA | 2007-03-12 | ISBN: 0199214158 | 100 pages | CHM | 1,5 Mb
Designed for primary care clinicians, this book is about patients who suffer with long term pain. Written in a distinct, friendly style, it analyses ideas about pain from the simple to the complex and provides up-to-date and relevant information written by doctors whose practice is either wholly or substantially related to people with pain. It provides examples of everyday patients to provide clinicians with the confidence to prescribe and treat patients with more difficult pain. In an attempt to 'demystify' some areas of pain medicine it also includes details of the science behind common conditions and their remedies in order to emphasise the psychological and social impacts of pain.

Torleiv Kl've “Codes for Error Detection"
World Scientific Publishing Company | 2007-04-25 | ISBN: 9812705864 | 216 pages | PDF | 1,1 Mb
There are two basic methods of error control for communication, both involving coding of the messages. With forward error correction, the codes are used to detect and correct errors. In a repeat request system, the codes are used to detect errors and, if there are errors, request a retransmission. Error detection is usually much simpler to implement than error correction and is widely used. However, it is given a very cursory treatment in almost all textbooks on coding theory. Only a few older books are devoted to error detecting codes. This book begins with a short introduction to the theory of block codes with emphasis on the parts important for error detection. The weight distribution is particularly important for this application and is treated in more detail than in most books on error correction. A detailed account of the known results on the probability of undetected error on the q-ary symmetric channel is also given.
