With the intent of designing a more systematic, focused program on knowledge management (KM), in 2006 the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) initiated a survey on the status of KM in nine member countries and compiled about two dozen case studies of exemplary KM practices in the private sector, government, and nongovernmental organizations in Asia. This book is the result of that survey project. To complement the survey, the APO sent three factfinding missions to leading KM institutions and practitioners in Europe and the USA in 2007. Study meetings on formulating a KM framework, KM implementation, and KM measurement methodology were also convened by the APO to expand its research and planning function.
The survey of good KM practices described in this book validated earlier concepts and yielded useful new insights that can help the APO improve its program to assist NPOs in KM and to help member countries to move toward knowledge-based development (KBD). Because many individual member countries have unique or specific strengths in KM, collaborative or multilateral cooperation among NPOs would be mutually beneficial, especially for NPOs that have only recently begun the journey toward competitiveness and excellence through KM. The APO intends to improve its assistance to NPOs that need to accelerate the adoption of KM and KBD.
Many leading organizations in KM practice in Asia are shifting their focus from excellence in operational productivity and quality management to excellence in strategic innovation and learning through KM. Thus the APO will continue to encourage the replication or adaptation of the best practices in quality improvement, but more importantly it will increase efforts to stimulate the innovation of “next practices” to improve the global competitiveness of Asian enterprises.
The case studies in this volume provide evidence that success in the Asian organizations studied is viewed not only as stemming from intelligent management of knowledge assets but also from supportive relationships and caring leadership that motivate knowledge workers in Asia to perform at their best.
The APO is grateful to all contributors to this publication for conveying the importance of KM through their survey studies. Special thanks are due to Dr. Serafin D. Talisayon for his role as chief expert for the survey and review of the entire volume. It is our hope that the survey results will provide readers with further insights into KM and assist firms and policymakers in taking actions that will yield business excellence and higher productivity.

This is an excellent book that contains every phamaceutical excipient that I have ever had the need to know about. I work for a dietary supplement manufacturer and we quite often get calls from customers that want to know all about all those "other ingredients" that are listed on product cartons. The book has a section for each excipient and each excipient has the following sections: Nonproprietary Names, Synonyms, Chemical Name and CAS Registry Number, Empirical Formula and Molecular Weight, Structural Formula, Functional Category, Applications in Pharmaceutical Formulation or Technology, Description, Pharmacopeial Specifications, Typical Properties, stability and Storage Conditions, Incompatibilities, Method of Manufacture, Safety, Handling Precautions, Regulatory Status, Pharmacopeias, Related Substances, Comments, Specific References, General References, and Authors. While I have a background in Biology, I found several of the sections to be easy to understand by several of our employees that do not have a science background. While, still, there was highly technical/scientific information as well. Each excipient's information is contained in 2-4 pages. The book is arranged alphabetically which makes finding information easy. In addition, it contains an index that is very well constructed. For example: If you are looking for an Emulsifying Agent, the index lists all the excipients that can be used for that purpose. I can't say enough how easy this book is to use. Its information is pared down to the essential text, and is chocked full of graphs, charts and microscopic photos of the excipients.

Excellent! A great introduction for someone considering the study of photography. Takes an unusual, sort of psychologically analytical approach to the field, in addition to dealing with the specifics of education, equipment and the like.
It was after reading this book that I finally made the decision to study photography through the New York Institute of Photography where Chuck Delaney is dean. He came across as being a down-to-earth, no-nonsense expert in the field, and his NYIP course bore that fact out. Both his book and the course gave me more than they promised, something that is rare today.

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Rob Miles™. This is a world of bad jokes, puns, and programming. In this book I'm going to give you a smattering of the C# programming language. If you have programmed before I'd be grateful if you'd still read the text. It is worth it just for the jokes and you may actually learn something. If you have not programmed before, do not worry. Programming is not rocket science it is, well, programming. The bad news about learning to program is that you get hit with a lot of ideas and concepts at around the same time when you start, and this can be confusing.
The keys to learning programming are:
Practice
do a lot of programming and force yourself to think about things from a problem solving point of view
Study – look at programs written by other people. You can learn a lot from studying code which other folk have created. Figuring out how somebody else did the job is a great starting point for your solution. And remember that in many cases there is no best
solution, just ones which are better in a particular context, i.e. the fastest, the smallest, the easiest to use etc.
Persistence
writing programs is hard work. And you have to work hard at it. The principle reason why most folks don't make it as programmers is that they give up. Not because they are stupid. However, don't get too persistent. If you haven't solved a programming problem in 30 minutes you should call time out and seek help. Or at least walk away from the problem and come back to it. Staying up all night trying to sort out a problem is not a good plan. It just makes you all irritable in the morning. We will cover what to do when it all goes wrong later in these notes.

I have just started my online business with this book at my side, it tells you about copyright laws, international laws and lots of other legal stuff that is required in setting up as a LTD, Partnership, Sole Trader or a LLP.
The book tells you how to write a business plan, how to get sponsorships from the Princes Trust and banks etc, it tells you what you should do in terms of laying people off if that should ever happen,
How to draw up terms of sale, disclaimers, how to employ staff, how to choose your products, search for competition, price your products accordingly, too high or too low is bad for your business.
The book also tells you how to advertise, forge links and register for PayE in the UK, Make sure you get the UK version as the American one uses the US Laws which are different from UK ones!! DONT SCREW UP HERE.
The book also tells you on how to sell your product, website? telephone directory? check the market before starting? does the product already exist? can you legally start a business? if you ran a previous business that went into debt etc.
It tells you about Bank Loans and how they are tied to you and your business, which i found very helpful. The book has useful links to companies house and various other organisations that you need to contact in the process of starting up.
The only bad thing is, I have lost my copy, I will have to root it out at some point...
Hope this helps you, this book is fantastic in telling you how to start up, brilliant book, love it!

Skype is hot right now. Actually, you can expand that and say that VoIP is hot right now, but Skype has carved out a special niche that many VoIP companies haven't yet been able to. Skype has prompted several imitators (Gizmo Project and Google Talk are two that I use personally), and has even been verbed ("I just skyped Leo Laporte about the last TWiT podcast" or "Skype me at notarealskypename and we'll talk" are examples of this).-So how do you get the most out of Skype? By using this book. In a lot of ways, this book could have been part of the Missing Manual series rather than the Hacks series. The first chapter steps users through making a Skype call, conference calling, and chatting. Using the pay features of Skype (SkypeIn, SkypeOut, and Skype Voicemail) are also covered, with special attention paid to showing users how to get a free trial for them. Of course, reading the Terms and Conditions would tell you much of the same information, since the refund policy for pay features is there.-The second chapter goes into the financial aspects of Skype, and shows that it may not be the most economical alternative for many people. Useful information, but pretty easy to calculate. Most people don't think about minute-rounding when they figure what their phone bill should be, though, so this section is pretty valuable.-There's really not much "hacking" in this book until chapter 4, where we start tweaking and tuning Skype (though chapter 3 does show how to build your own Skype server at home, and how to integrate Skype into your existing phone system). We learn about config.xml and what we can change to make Skype run the way we want it to. We're even told how to put Skype call shortcuts on our desktop, if we have people we call frequently.-Chapter 5 is for the businessman, showing how to implement Skype in a corporate setting. There's some unexplored potential to this aspect of Skype, including the call-center application (Hack #54).-The main reason that I wanted this book was Hack #56 -- recording conversations. My main reason for getting Skype was to use it for interviews, and I planned on recording them for editing and playback on my podcast. This was also my reason for switching to Gizmo Project -- Skype doesn't have that feature built-in, but Gizmo does. The book shows a few solutions to this problem, preferring the Pamela professional Skype add-on ($22). I was disappointed that they didn't mention Hot Recorder ($14.95, but with a free version also), which is the solution I have heard the most about.-The most important hack is #81 -- the workaround for 911 service. VoIP phones don't have 911 capability, which is a source of concern for many potential users (including me). The book offers a simple workaround for this lack, and the lack of 411 service as well.-There's a lot of valuable information in this book. I'm not sure it qualifies as a Hack book, but it is invaluable for anyone who uses Skype frequently. Hackers, especially "terrorist hackers" or "cyberwar hackers" get lots of press. They do indeed pose a serious problem. However, the threat they pose pales be- fore that posed by those closest to us: the insiders. The cyberthreat posed by insiders isn’t new. Donn Parker’s seminal 1978 book Crime by Computer estimated that 95% of computer attacks were committed by authorized users of the system. Admittedly, this was in the pre-Internet era, when very few non-insiders had any access at all; still, the underlying issue – that em- ployees are not always trustable – remains. To be sure, this has always been true – thieving or otherwise corrupt workers have undoubtedly existed since commerce itself – but the power of computers (and our inability to secure them in the best of circumstances) makes the problem far worse today. In June 2007, a workshop (sponsored by Cliff Wang of the Army Research Of- fice) on the insider threat was held. Approximately 35 invitees attended, including securityresearchers, vendors, practitioners, and representatives of organizations that perceive a serious insider threat. The goal was to develop a research commu-nity on the insider threat. Of necessity, our first steps were to understand the scope of the problem, to develop a common vocabulary, and to start sketching a research agenda. - un-rar all the files, it shall create 2 large iso files (CD1+crack & CD2). The CD's are in iso
format if you wish to burn these to CD's later.
- otherwise unrar the two .iso files.
- create c:/ADBC.
- copy all unrared data/folders (but not the crack folders) from both CDs into the C:/ADBC folder (over write if when asked).
- in c:/ADBC run install.exe to install Autodata. follow on screen instructions, install the data CD onto Hard drive when asked. Do NOT start Autodata, uncheck the box and OK the installation.
- copy "3.18crack_1" contents into the c:/ADCD folder and overwrite when asked.
- copy "3.18crack_2" contents into the c:/ADCD folder and overwrite when asked.
- change your PC time to 2006 (very important as the crack is a years license).
- run Autodata CDA-3 via C:/ADCD/ADBCD.exe (ie ignore the desktop icon).
- Autodata shall now fully work!!
There appears to be no reason the for keygens (which is handy as most virus killers will block them).
I belive this works on all Windows even Vista.
When you have finished with Autodata, remember to set your PC clock back again!
So everytime you want to start Autodata, you need to set the PC clock back to 2006. Once its booted up, you can change the clock back (it only needs it at the start when checking the license). |

Most scientists and engineers received some training in computer programming in their college days, but they (or their computer) may no longer have the capability to write or run programs in, for example, FORTRAN. This book shows how to implement numerical methods using Microsoft Excel, the most widely used spreadsheet software package.
This is a book about numerical methods. I have emphasized the methods and have kept the mathematical theory behind the methods to a minimum. In many cases, formulas are introduced with little or no description of the underlying theory. (I assume that the reader will be familiar with linear interpolation, simple calculus, regression, etc.) Other topics, such as cubic interpolation, methods for solving differential equations, and so on, are covered in more detail, and a few topics, such as Bairstow's method for obtaining the roots of a regular polynomial, are discussed in detail.
In this book I have provided a wide range of Excel solutions to problems. In many cases I provide a series of examples that progress from a very simple implementation of the problem (useful for understanding the logic and construction of the spreadsheet or VBA code) to a more sophisticated one that is more general. Some of the VBA macros are simple "starting points" and I encourage the reader to modify them; others are (or at least I intended them to be) "finished products" that I hope users can employ on a regular basis.
Nearly 100% of the material in this book applies equally to the PC or Macintosh versions of Excel. In a few cases I have pointed out the different keystrokes requires for the Macintosh version.

The European Pharmacopoeia is a single reference work for the quality control of medicines in Europe. Several legal texts make the European Pharmacopoeia mandatory:A Convention on the Elaboration of a European Pharmacopoeia ratified in 2003 by 31 European countries and the European Union; European Union directives 2001/83/EC and 2001/82/EC,on medicines for human use and for veterinary use, respectively, maintain the mandatory character of European Pharmacopoeia specifications on medicines as regards their qualitative and quantitative composition and the tests to be carried out on these medicines, the raw materials used in production and the intermediates of synthesis. All producers of medicines or substances for pharmaceutical use therefore must apply the quality standards of the European Pharmacopoeia for the marketing and use of these products in Europe. The texts of the European Pharmacopoeia are legally binding and compliance is enforced by the administrative or juridical authorities. The national authorities of the member states are bound to apply them if necessary replacing any national monograph on the same subject.
The 4th Edition consists of an initial volume 2002 (4.0) and a collection of 8 non-cumulative supplements (4.1) published three times a year following the decisions of each session of the European Pharmacopoeia Commission. With supplement 4.6, the 4th Edition comprises 1750 specific monographs, 285 general methods illustrated by figures or chromatograms and 2140 reagents. Every 4 months a new volume enters into force.
