ebXML is an emerging e-commerce standard that leverages the flexibility of the Extensible Markup Language (XML) to build e-commerce infrastructure. XML is a markup language used to create data and documents for application communications and storage. The "eb" in ebXML stands for "electronic business," and the phrase is pronounced as simply "ee-bee-ex-em-el." The ebXML standard is the result of a joint international initiative of the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT) and the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS).
ebXML is a concerted effort to combine the best of two existing standards: electronic data interchange (EDI) and extensible markup language (XML). Prior to ebXML, members of both EDI and XML groups disagreed over details but wanted something from the other side. XML users wanted access to the EDI community's vast inventory of business semantics and standards development, and the EDI community wanted to use XML technology. Joining forces in the ebXML initiative was a win-win situation.
Together they set the following goal, according to the published ebXML vision on the organization's Web site:
"The vision of ebXML is to enable a global electronic marketplace where enterprises of any size and in any geographical location can meet and conduct business with each other through the exchange of XML-based messages."

John Brian Harley, a British geographer, described the process of making a map as the social construction of knowledge to facilitate understanding. In many ways, the preparation of this report seemed like that of making a map, not to direct, but to organize and represent information to help progress through the many scientific findings and unknowns in the field of early education in autism. At the request of the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs, this project was undertaken by the National Research Council to consider the state of the scientific evidence of the effects of early educational intervention on young children with autistic spectrum disorders. In any such project, the questions become as important as the answers. Our committee represented many different fields—including clinical and developmental psychology, special education, speech and language pathology, psychiatry, and child neurology—and we elected to organize our report around the questions that we defined as most important for our areas of inquiry; these questions demand multidisciplinary attention. We attempted to provide a “map” for each of these questions that represented scientific literature from our respective fields.
The questions cover epidemiology, family support, diagnosis and screening, assistive technology, characteristics of autism, features of intervention programs, and how instructional strategies have been put together in comprehensive programs. The questions also include issues in public policy, personnel preparation, and future research.

Chess strategy outdates business strategy by some 100 years. Usually, the first world champion in chess history, Wilhelm Steinitz, is credited for introducing systematic strategic thinking into chess in the last part of the 19th century. Business strategy, on the other hand, didn't receive much attention - either in academia or in business practice - until the 1960s.

an anagram of the word above, with one additional letter added each time.
Word Ladder
Move from the start word to the end word with the aid of the clues, changing one
letter a ta time.
Word Wheel
Make as many words of 3 or more letters as you can, with no plurals and using
the centre letter in each word. At least one word uses all nine letters.
Number Tower
Complete the number tower, such that each box contains a number that is the
sum of the two boxes directly beneath it.
ABC Logic Puzzle
Place the letters A, B, C and two spaces exactly once in each row/column, so
that the first/last letter in each region is that stated at the start/end of that row/
column where this is indicated.
Letter Fit
Place the words beneath the grid into the puzzle; each word only fits in one place.

The author was part-time Head of Furniture at a leading college until 1969. Alan Peters has won numerous awards
and published in 1986 "Cabinet Making: the Professional Approach".

Regarded by his contemporaries as one of the best cabinetmakers, the late Ernest Joyce not only supervised his own
hand workshop but also acted as part-time Head of Furniture at one of the leading Colleges of Art until his retirement
in 1969. Alan Peters carried out a 7-year apprenticeship to Edward Barnsley followed by a two-year spell at college on
a craft teacher-training course. He then won a scholarship to the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London to study interior design.
He established his first workshop in 1962, and moved down to Devon in 1973. He has won numerous awards and
honours throughout his professional career, and in 1986 his work was the subject of a one-man touring exhibition.
In 1984 he published Cabinet-Making: The Professional Approach.
