Richard Lachmann, "Capitalists in Spite of Themselves"
Oxford University Press | ISBN: 0–19–507568–4 | 314 Pages | PDF | 1.3 Mb
THIS BOOK HAS BEEN A LONG TIME in preparation. Over the years, many teachers, colleagues, and students provided assistance and advice in a variety of ways. Well before I made specific plans for this book I was given direction and guidance in thinking about historical sociology in general, and the development of capitalism in early modern Europe in particular, by my teachers at Princeton and Harvard, Gilbert Rozman, Marion Levy Jr., Theda Skocpol, Harrison White, John Padgett, George Homans, Ron Breiger, and Gosta Esping-Anderson. Theda Skocpol, John Padgett, and especially Harrison White have continued to offer advice and incisive readings of my work even after they and I left Harvard.
